Most local tire changing places use the same wrenches air guns and whatever to take wheels off of cars and trucks. It's been my experience that unless I stand and watch they will not torque when finished and do just about anything to get the job finished. Mid America offers a "Soft" Socket thats 19mm with a 1/2 inch drive. Its a socket with a nylon insert.
Is this the size of the lug nuts on a standard '04? The thing is $30.00 bucks, I think its worth that to keep tire changers from screwing up the lug nuts on my

Yes, that's the size, but if you let them put the lug nuts on with an air wrench, you've let them go too far. Insist on a torque wrench and torque to 100#

Air gun is ok it they use a torque stick. The real damage comes when they don't use a star patten when tightening the lug nuts and warp your rotors.
