I have been reading the forums about the maf flow relays located behind the battery. Can these be checked propery with a ohm meter? The 1984 C4 is really running bad. It reminds me of a wet distributor cap. If I unplug the maf when the car is running it gets worse. I am thinking of trying the relays. Are they a dealer only part? thanks...Jim

usually they run better when diconnected. it may check fine with an ohm meter and still be bad the contacts in the relay should bs checked under a load and if you do replace the relay do them in pairs only my 2 cents steve

Maf Relays

Hi, I had a hard starting problem with my 88 since I bought it, then I got a check engine light, pulled the codes, pointed to Maf burn-off relay, replaced it and the power relay, no more problems. I got both at the dealers, no more electronic after market parts for me. They were about $17.00 each and of course their MADE IN CHINA. Thank you
