Manufacturer of stock 01 Z06 pads?

Does anyone know who makes the stock 2001 Z06 pads (front and rear)? OEM part numbers (that is not GM #s) would also be useful if possible.

I have been reading the (100s! of) threads discussing brakes and want to be past the SOTP impressions and look at real specifications.

I am trying to find out the friction rating and temperature limits of the stock pads. From that we can then actually compare specifications of the other options.

HI there,
While I do not have the part numbers for the actual manufacturer of the pads, PBR makes them for GM.
They are from your neck of the woods, in Australia.

Thanks but I have spoke to PBR yesterday. PBR made the calipers for the C4 and supplied them loaded with pads from Bendix (Mintex, Repco - choose your name).

However Bendix do not make pads for C5s. Actually they do but are only just about to release them have just completed the tooling.

Either I am getting BS from PBR or Bendix, I will talk to them both again today.

OK here is where I got to...

Everyone I contacted (bar one) was clear and happy in saying they do not make the OEM pads. The one exception was Hawk who very politely went into a "neither confirm nor deny" mode. They wouldn't even be drawn into providing specifications that could be used for comparisons.

In fact not publishing specifications was a general trend amongst manufacturers though if you look hard enough you can find smaller specialist pad manufacturers that do publish the specs for the materials that they admit they buy from the big pad manufacturers.

My guess (and it is only that) is that Hawk is the manufacturer of the stock pads (as many people already have proposed) and that the Z06 is likely to use as stock the HPS pads. If this is so (again this is only my guess), then Hawk have a position to preserve in the Market for sales of their HPS pads. If it became generally known that the GM and HPS pads were identical we would stop buying the HPS and choose the cheaper GM pads.

So in the end I didn't get an answer to my question and I/we are no better off. We still don't have specifications and so cannot realistically compare pads other than stick them in a car and hit the brakes!
