Mass Airflow Sensor(gms)

I have a 1996 LT4 Collectors Edition Coupe. I was thinking of replacing my stock sensor with a GMS brand. Its supposed to add 10 - 15 HP to your engine. Does anyone know anything about this product, is it worth the change, and does it do what the article says? Thanks for your help.

MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR(GMS)

GMS is a brand name. It stands for: Granatelli Motor Sports.

I read about this in the December 2001 issue of Corvette Fever....page 31.

GMS MAF

Hey Hondo,
I think you should spend the money on other mods. These sensors can be a real pain in the A$$. A lot of people have reported knock retard, actually losing HP due to timing retard. In most cases it was caused by a lean conditon. I have also heard of surging problems at cruise speed. If you HAVE to have one, have them calibrate one that is 5% richer.I would take the screen out of your stock unit & invest in a cold air intake system like the vortex. You'll get Real HP increase, if you have not already done it. I would stay away from the GMS unless you have a MAF and can adjust rich/lean mixture. These OBD 2 systems are a little picky. Good luck- Scott
