I was running at Thunderhill yesterday. I've been watching my oil temp mostly, but this time I started to watch my coolant temp, too. I have the Ron Davis combo radiator/oil cooler and my oil temps were running around 245-255... maybe as high as 260... it was 100 degrees ambient and sunny.

I started watching my coolant temperature... seemed to be running 225-235... and near the end of the last session it reached 240, and I got nervous and ran a cool down lap.

What coolant temp is too hot? Do I really need to watch that or just the oil temp only? At what point would the 'check gauges' light come on for the coolant temperature?

well as far as coolant is concerned 240 is ok but I'd check the radiator for debris (leaves ,grass, paper bags & Mustangs)
make sure the air dam is ok too. it seems a bit high with the radiator you have.
The high limit for boilover with 50/50 mix and the stock cap should be about 260.
Now as to oil temps. 270 is the magic number. (slow down and or use a higher gear).
I haven't seen a check gages (other than gas).

I was at Thunderhill on the 30th. Ambient temps had to be at least 100. My coolant temps were 230 with a max oil temp of 298. No oil cooler on mine of course. Your temperatures don't seem that high. What percentage antifreeze/water are you running? Which club were you running with by the way?
