'03 Millenium Yellow Convertible
looking at purchasing my first vette and this is my first posting on this site. I've been reading some of the threads over the last couple of days and thought I take a chance and put my toe in the water ... I have located a millenium yellow 03 convertible with low mileage (6,500+/-) at what appears to be an attractive price (about $40K) ... although yellow would not have been my first choice, its starting to grow on me ... question: are there any general concerns I should have with the yellow paint, ie fading? ... is it harder to re-sell a yellow vette?

thanks ... gints fan

There is nothing more beautiful then a yellow corvette.

Don't let ANYONE tell you otherwise!

I fell in love with yellow during the 50th Anniversary Celebration, the two couples we ran with for the weekend had a 2003 Yellow Z06 and 2001 Yellow Coupe. I actually felt out of place in my Red car (I'm sure that will start something since as you know all vette's are red...).

Anyway I think the cars stay looking beautiful, but for some reason, the yellow attracts bugs anytime you park near the grass. Very peculiar.

How about Millenium Yellow on a C4

"Impossible to ignore" Millenium Yellow is drop dead gorgeous. There's no two ways about it. The ONLY drawback to it is that bugs love to hump it continually. Park on the grass next to other vettes and you'll be the only one with every type of insect for miles coming to pay you a call.

I love my Torch Red coupe, but those M-Yellow verts do look good!

I asked about this shortly after I bought my 2001 baby, and someone replied that the yellow makes the bugs think it's a flower, so they're looking for pollen. Not sure about that, as it never attracts bees, but flies and such do like to hang out on it.

That aside, it is a real eye catcher! Looks good even when dirty, fantastic when clean. People notice you. Cute leetle girls notice you. Older wimmen notice you. And (if you're into this) guys notice you (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Typically my local dealer puts on a market adjustment of 5-10K on any yellow Z06 that he gets. I don't know how much of that stays on when he sells it, the greedy bastard, but apparently it is still rare enough that they try to get more money...

Which is why I bought my car used from another dealer.

I see a few yellow Z06s around here - usually one everyday. It makes my head turn all the time. :)

I still want a Z06 in either Torch Red or Milennium Yellow. Ahhh someday....

Thanks to those that have been nice enough to respond to my question re: millenium yellow ... I'm still getting used to the idea of having a yellow car, never could see myself in one but the millenium yellow vette has a presence other yellow cars don't ... also, its nice to hear that it attracts the attention of women, although I'm not sure I feel the same way when it comes to guys checkin out my wife when she's driving it ...

I was blown away by the bug thing, I would have never expected this to be an issue ... livin in VA where bug life seems to thrive this could be an issue but not a deal killer, can't wait to get my vehicle in the driveway!!!

I have 2001 Mil. Yellow vert. I've got some Wet Okole seat covers with yellow on it and it looks great.

The only reason to not get yellow would be if you're allergic to bees. They LOVE my car whenever we go up north for the weekend (too hot here in Phoenix to ride topless in the summer). Unfortunately, they seem to have a taste for my flesh too. My fiancee's never been stung, but I get nailed almost every time. Other than the bug thing, there's no drawaback to yellow. I think it's well worth the extra bit of pain I have to put up with sometimes! Yellow just seems to really stand out.

Yellow can be seen from a great distance, so I figured if I bought yellow everyone could gaze on the beauty of a Corvette far longer. :v

I've had no bug problem but birds seem to like to decorate it.

I see more yellow than any other color now and dealers said they always go first. The other day I went only a few miles during rush hour and saw 7 yellows and only a couple others. Go for it!

If yellow is so popular, why is GM selling their leftover paint to the guys painting lines on the roads?......................just a bad joke

yellow or gray

yellow 03 convrtbl w/6,500 miles or gray coupe 04 w/3 miles ... the grey vet has the magntc drive the convrtbl does not ... everything else equal ... which do you choose?

Yellow is the best....

Yellow is hard to beat......it grabs attention every where I drive. :bu

And the bugs love it! but they fly away....not as bad as their splattered counterparts on the front end!

Don't settle for anything, keep looking until you have all the toys on one.

There is no bad color for a vette...except that pewter grey that looks like leftover battleship paint, the ones you can't see because they blend in with the concrete. (Just kidding, good thing you are in Canada, we can't track you down and make you take back that mean spirited comment!):bu

They are all beautiful, yellow just stands out from everything else on the road, some personalities do not like to have attention drawn to them. Then there is the factor of authorities spotting you faster also. :nono

You will know when the right car comes along and will not be able to wait to take it home.

mean spirited but funny, nice job poodle ... thanx for the feedback ... dont know how I feel about having alot of attention drawn to me, certainly don't need any authorities taking notice ... does "magnetic selective drive" really make a difference?

I felt very conspicuous at first until the waves started then I stopped feeling guilty for having the best machine on the road.:L

Here is a definition if you don't already have one. I don't know personally as I have a 2000. I doubt there would be a noticeable difference unless you were someone very familiar with the various vettes and their nuances, but any new improvement is probably safer.

Sometimes it comes down to what you want to spend too, I saved $20,000 by going back a few years with the same basic toys.

PS: Color is a very personal choice based on your personality and preference. You will have it too long not to take your time and get exactly what you will love. I always wanted black but the lines on the C5 are hidden by black moreso than the C3 I had always wanted, which relied on a more distinctive shape...at least in my preconceived idea of what I wanted.

Go where there are lots of vettes, local shows, cruise nights, Corvette shops that have a lot of them and look at the ones on the road. After awhile you will get a feel for what you want people to see when you are behind the wheel. You might change your mind completely. Sit behind the wheel in daylight and get a feel for the color you will see. I saw an awesome bright blue with a blinding white top the other day. With the tan top the blues didn't peak my interest the same way.

As someone told me when I was looking, each color makes it look different, some make it look larger, some smaller, some make it stand out or hide the lines, some blend in with the background, some look modern, some have a traditional feel, like red for me.

Can't wait to learn what you choose!
