Mobil 1 Oil

Hi,

GM recommends Mobil 1 5w-30 oil for my 2000 C5 but I am finding it a little difficult to source in my part of England (the South West) so wondered if anyone knows where I can get it from?

Does the newer Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 meet the same GM4718M specification?

Mobil 1 0w-40 seems easier to obtain in England - would this be ok?

The ESP does not meet the GM4718M specification. Per the Mobil 1 website, the Mobil 1 0w30 and 5w30 meet the spec, while the 0w40 does not.

Direct from the service manual...
"In areas of the world other than North America, it may be difficult to find oils that display the API STARBURST symbol and that are labeled as meeting the GM4718M specification.

If the API STARBURST is not found displaying oils identified as meting the GM718M requirements, look for oils that meet the API Service SJ and ACEA A3-96 requirements."

When I was in Italy I used AGIP Sint Evolution full synthetic 5W-40 with no problems. You may be able to find some other full synthetic where you are at.
