Does anyone use muffler eliminators like the ones Mid America sells? How do thay sound? Do you get a lot of back-fire or pops when you let off the gas? I would like more sound, but don't want to sound like a crop-duster.

Don't know about the muffler eliminators but the Flowmaster 40 series are supposed to have a very good sound for those who like it loud. I have the 50 series which sound good outside the car, but are quieter than the 40 series (so I've heard) inside the car.

:) Dony know about your 92 but on my L81C3 I took the mufflers off and ran straight pipes back from where the mufflers would have been and kept the stock cat.Put chrome down tips on and it looks and sounds awesome. No popping on decel and seems to have enough back pressure. Feels like more power or maybe its just the rush the sound gives you.;) :w :pat :pat :pat :pat

I'm running eliminators on the 82 and ANSA targa's on the 85 and love em both. Nice growl but no annoying resonance in the 1800-2200 RPM(cruisin) range. I'm thinking of going to Flowmwster or BB on the 85 but I love the ANSA so much I hate to change them even though they're getting pretty old.
Hope it helps

Muffler Elim.

My 88 had the pipes on it when I bought it , the cats are in place and it sounds great w/no popping or backfiring

First off, try a local muffler shop first. Usually they can make what Mid America sells, and your total bill including installation won't be as high as just purchasing the parts from Mid America. All a shop has to do is cut of the mufflers and run straight pipe.

I have done this on my '96, and also did it on my '93. The sound is a bit rough a times only, usually only during higher RPM slow downs. During normal driving I don't get popping at all. On the '93 I used dual slant cut chrome tips on each side, on the '96 they cut the stock tips off the mufflers and used those. The sound is awesome, but not too loud. It is especially nice when the top is off, because you can really hear the sound.

I would recomend Power Effects. It has a variable design that
you can adjust the flow rate and sound. At the wide open setting you basically are running straight pipes, at the closed setting it sounds fairly stock. Opened up they sound great, (I always leave them opened, oh yeah!

I wouldn't buy exhaust components from Mid-America or Ecklers that can be bought at Summit Racing for much less, no shipping charges and super fast delivery.

Ok, would anybody here know which part#'s I'd need, if I wanted to have 40 series put on my '95? I LOVE the sound of them, and have been leaning towards them....
