Help! Multi-function switch failure

My cruise control doesn't work, my turn signals work most of the time but I can tell by the way the switch feels it is not right. The left turn is hard to engage and the right side doesn't take but a touch to activate. I assume I need to replace the switch. Can anyone tell me (hopefully in detail) how to replace the switch? Do I have to remove the steering wheel?

I will have other questions later but this is the most immediate.
