My C6 Is IN!

Well since Zippy has disappeared from the face of the earth, I'll give you my first impression. First I like the new run flats there is alot less road noise, there alot like my Toyo Proxes tires. The hud is whole lot more visable in strong sunlight and the lateral G force meter is cool. However a splitting headache stopped me from going beyond .76 for now. Polarized sunglasses the radio, hud, nav and climate controls do not mix. There is a world of difference between the C5 and C6 shifter feel. The short throws are nice the double clunking as you go into each gear is gone and no more popping out of first because you didn't push hard enough to get it into first. The Z51 feels very tight but not jarring. I'm still breaking mine in so I have not stomped on it yet, maybe next week. The seats are firm they hold you better and are very comfortable. The leather seems to be a much better quality. I've only had the car 2 days so I've got alot to figure out. The nav is very cool and accurate. It appears to be pretty easy to use once you've learned all the features. Radio controls are nicely done very easy to figure out. The exhaust note is quiet at cruising speed but has a nice sound as it revs up. I think I'm going to really like this car can't wait to head out for the west coast in it next month.

WAY COOL ZIPPY!!!:)
congrads on the new purchase, Post us some pictures when ya get her all washed and waxed:)

Driving at night on a dark street the headlights do a excellent job of lighting the road ahead but what is really cool is the way it lights up both shoulders of the road, now you have very good visability of what might be just off the road. It does this by just illuminating the bottom few feet, there is a distinct line between what is light and dark, really weird. The exterior door handles are neat a little squeeze on the membrane inside the door the window indexs down and the door pops open. On the inside a button is located on the door grab bar to open it from the inside. An emergency handle is located at floor level to operate the door. The push button start is cool one push of the button then release and the car fires up. I like it better than having the fob dangleing there from the key. Using the passive locking system you never need to reach in your pocket to get your keys. Exit the vehicle and walk away and the door locks squeeze the handle the door unlocks and opens push the button the car starts. Top removal is easier with larger handles to unlatch the top and now to store it you do not have to spin it around. It also stores level with room underneath. Much better idea. The aluminum colored accents on the interior are tastefully done. I like the look and feel of the interior. I did not have much complaints with the C5 interior but I am glad the useless grab bar on the passenger dash is gone. Lane change signaling is done by just a slight push of the stalk then release, it will then signal three times. I like the look and feel of the steering wheel it's a little thicker than the C5 wheel but you get use to it quickly it also has a nice colored emblem in the center. I've got the new Cashmere colored interior it's lighter than the oak in my C5. I think I liked the slightly darker oak better.

I have to get ready for the approching storm but we can go over the exterior later.

Thanks for the evaluations. How about the Radio? Is the touch srcreen really easy to use?

It's neat to hear that the points you bring up here with your initial experiences are the same ones heavily discussed in the GM training video for C6 salesmen at the dealerships.

Thanks for the response and be safe when Frances gets there.

All my salesperson had to say was 400 hp 6 speed Z 51 and my reply was I'll take it. Actually I went there to purchase a Z06 CE. But it did not take much to turn my attention away from the Z. My wife did not like the louder car with less storage. And we both like the mag red, same as my C5.

Well I see Zippy is still zipping around in his car so here are a few more impressions on the interior.
The driveline tunnel is very noticible cooler. I wonder what they did there? Also I really like the look of the gauges. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/tlaplante/gauges.jpg
The center console opens much easier now with a little more room. And the cup
holder is actually useful.

The radio has three hard controls one to get to the radio screen one to seek the stations and one for volume everything else is done with the touch screen. It was very easy to set up. My wife had us listening to Rush (Limbaugh not the band) in no time. The display buttons are large enough so some of us don't have to get out the reading glasses to change stations. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/tlaplante/radiocontrol.jpg
The interior has been kitty kat test and approved. Now i just need to prevent him from inspecting the exterior.

I got my car Friday morning. Friday night we had the downtown Friday Fest. They close off the main street and the car clubs bring their cars down and park in their own sections. Venders and djs set up some street musicians show up. It drums up some business for the shops downtown. I'm the second vette to park, me and my buddy settle in to see what kind of reactions we get since only a few people know there will be a C6 there. The 3rd car to show up, a C4 parks next to me. He gets out walks around to the side I'm parked on opens his door retrieves some cleaning stuff and spruces up his car. We talk to him while he's doing this but it must have taken 10 minutes before he realizies there is something different about the vette next to him. The next person is a C5 guy he parks his car, comes over and starts talking to us at the back of my car. 5 minutes later still not noticing it was a C6 we can't take it anymore and ask him what he thought of the car. By this time we had a pretty good crowd of vette owners a few cars away still clueless. Finally we started to get some driving by to park and slam on the brakes and do a double take. We did have alot of people stop and give the C6 a good looking over and lots of questions. As far as the corvette wave goes for right now that is hopeless.

Thanks! I hope you didnt have too much trouble with the hurricane.

Congrats.!!! I have "build date" of 9/10/04. When do you think I can expect delivery ? I thought it would take months after we put our order in..now I can't wait a few weeks. Enjoy the car. Any pix would be great.

Thanks for the really cool pictures, for us that will not be able to see one in person for a while it is nice to see what it looks like up close and personal--so to speak. Again THANKS.

Didn't realize you could order it complete with a passenger side pus$y! ;LOL

I guess Zippy is on a road trip across the U.S.!!!!!
HI gang! Here's why I haven't posted: After 20+ years in the same house, we've downsized, sold our home, and moved. The day we moved was the same day I bought the C6..August 26th. It rained for the next several days, and I was without cable TV and internet service until this mnorning! In the meantime we've been changing addressses, setting up our new home, un-packing, and we drove the new car to the NCM for their 10th anniversary. I now have over 1,300 miles on it and I rate it an "11, on a 1 to 10 scale."

No problems, it is smooth, quiet, comfortable, fast, and drives & handles like a dream! NAV system is fantastic! Voice and/or touch screen operated. Also have auto trans with perf axle ratio, 1SB package, Z51, XM radio. The lights are greatly improved all the way around, and am really impressed with them.

No pictures yet, still haven't set up my Kodak E-Z dock system.

Any questions?

Zippy :) :)

Glad to hear all is well on the personal front and with the new Vette!
Congrats on the new pad and pod!
