Danica Patrick will be in NASCAR next season. If NASCAR executives can pull it off. George Pyne -- the former NASCAR Chief Operating Officer, and thus one of the top officials in stock car racing, and now head of IMG sports and entertainment, the high-buck talent marketing agency -- and key NASCAR executives are together working the entire Sprint Cup garage trying to put together a package for Patrick to run NASCAR next season. Finding sponsorship is quite likely not the big issue, as hot a property as Danica Patrick is.

Danica is a race car driver and a good one, any driver out there has every right to drive in whatever series they can land a ride with. I think she will probably have more success as an open wheel driver on the track, financially I wouldn't be surprised if she would have a better paying career in nascar and that to me is simply a personal decision that she would have to decide on for herself. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she did change to nascar, to see her bump Jr out of the most popular driver slot.

From a nascar side of things, the more bigger names you can put on the track and the more publicity you get, the more money you'll bring in and the more seats you'll sell. Does nascar actually "need" her, no, no more than the need any other single driver. I feel like this comes into the realm of any publicity is good publicity (kyle bush is proving right now that even bad publicity is a good thing and that every sport does better with a villain...he's sure not welcomed in middle TN right now) and landing her would definitely be a lot of publicity.

I quit watching NASCAR a few years ago...when all of these "young guns" with their drama and attitude came onto the scene. Grown men acting like children just does not entertain me.

It will be interesting to see is she eats her words (which have been something like, I'm an open wheel driver and will never run NASCAR) or whether she remains a purist and stays in open wheel racing.

In any event, she's incredibly talented in a race car and, if she went and ran Cup in '10, she'd be a Tony Stewart...with nice boobs.

She runs a series right now that uses a spec engine from Honda. She's done Honda commercials for the last couple of years. If Honda entered Sprint Cup, what a splash they'd make if she was one of the new, Honda Accord NASCAR drivers.

Clearly, you you never watched NASCAR very long and don't remember when Dale Earnhardt or Darryl Waltrip came in the sport in the 80s. Talk about "men acting like children"....

Also, tell me that some of the F1 drivers are not men acting like kids.

God I never thought I could agee with you .Although the boobs are a little small but certainly nice.;)

She can hold her own in a fist fight.:D

I'm sorry but we just don't need Danica in NASCAR!
Jim I agree with you, but at this point does it really make a difference?? Between the Jap cars and the COTs, and the fines for bad language, I'm so sick and tired of them trying to make everything politically correct !!!! :pukeJust go back to "old school"

I like Danica and think she is a very talented driver.I have concerns, given her petite figure, can she "muscle" a cup car around the track for 500 miles.

Hey I'm a Rusty fan, so I couldnt help it. Does anyone remember Jeffs first award banquet as a champ at the Waldorf and he lost it in front of Earnhart Sr.???? I felt so bad for him:thumb

I used to watch it when DW was on his way out...when Rusty and Mark Martin (and yeah Dale E.) were the top names. Yep it happened, but not to the extend that it does now (or at least when I stopped watching it).

And yes that is exactly why I don't care for F1 either!

Although I suppose if someone paid me the money they make I could act like a 5 year old too! :chuckle

If you see some of the current Cup starts, some are very small guys.

I'd say that being "petite" is not a problem but not having stamina and of the upper body strength of a Gordon, Busch or Johnson might be a problem.

I'd also point out that open wheel drivers work on a pretty difficult environment as far as lateral acceleration and braking...perhaps even more punishing than what the Cup guys feel.

I'll close by saying, one part of me hope Ms. Patrick sticks with her committment to open wheel racing, but then, given her "somewhat volitile" personality, I'd also like to see what she'd be like in a Cup car...ie: could she really be Tony Stewart with tits?
