Call me selfish. I hope DP stays in IRL since it's my favorite form of racing. BASHCAR never excited me. Pushin 'n bangin is not racing it's on track dodgem cars. Real race cars don't have fenders.

A buddy of mine toured Charolette a few years ago. The tour guide said they were painting the seats to look like they were full when shown on TV following cars doing 180.

Also I remember 3 years ago when attendance started slipping at your cookie cutter tracks and the president of Texas Motor Speedway said he did not care if the fans did not show up, they would put banners over the seats and sell ad space and make more money.

With that said, NASCAR has been a joke for years. They do need danica more that the IRL since there are plenty fans that have simply found other things to do. I also see no reason for GM/Ford/Mopar or whoever to throw money at this waste of time. Danica would be better served in the IRL since the racing is better and she is no where near the calaiber of driver Tony Stewart is (whoever said they are even close needs to have thier head examaned) Stewart was an IRL champ before he made the move to BUSCH for 2 years before being moved up to the "bigs". Tony did not set the world on fire in Busch either, it took him awhile but he probably is the best all around driver in any series.

Also look at the list of open wheel drivers that did NOT make it in nascar OR have not done that great. I think there have been a total of 4 indy 500 winners (in recent history) that are either driving now or have driven and flamed out and only 1 cup win. You have also had or have former F1 guys driving and even an F1 champ that could not make it. Danica has won 1 race.

Sure let her drive cup. She and Jr can be the 2 over rated drivers that make millions and dont win, however she must realize no one is watching or cares about nascar.

Hey I'm a Rusty fan, so I couldnt help it. Does anyone remember Jeffs first award banquet as a champ at the Waldawf and he lost it in front of Earnhart Sr.???? I felt so bad for him

Yes, I was watching. That was the year Rick Hendrick had been indicted for federal bribery and was headed to jail and Jeff was pretty rattled. The entire NASCAR crowd knew the situation and were understanding. It was a poignant moment certainly. Through his tears, Jeff joked that "Earnhart'll have something else to talk about now," in a reference to his loss of composure. The camera cut to Dale, Sr. who was pretty cool though. Just a gracious smile and nod as if to say, "...don't worry about it." Dale knew how tough things were at the top sometimes.
