Does anyone know the latest version NAV disc? I have ver. 4 in the Vette and ver. 6 in the Caddy. Don't know if the NAVs are really different in each car.

The most recent version I got was a two-disc update (version 4) for my '06. This was the free update disc, and I got it late last year. I believe they do annual updates.

Thanks! I have a two-disc set for the caddy. But only one disc for the Vette, although it is ver. 4.

I'll have to check my version number for the Vette again, I may have gotten that wrong. I think once you've owned the vehicle for a year, you can register online for your update disc.

C4C5Specialist posted this link once upon a time:

http://www.gmnavdisc.com/

That's how I was able to order my update disc.
:)

New version soon

I called the GMnav place today and the lady there told me that the new 2010 disks will be out Jan/Feb and will contain 20% more data than the present disk.

...and will cost an arm and a leg if you don't have a free update coming.

I am pretty sure the latest is:

Ver 5 P/N 25976806u

By the way, last chance to get the free upgrade for an 07 is Dec 31. Technically, 06 ran out one year ago, but I called the Nav center today and as a good will measure they agreed to send me one for my 06

Holy crap, you spend $40k+ on a car and they can't even give free updates to at least the original owners of the car? :eyerole

They really milk you for every single penny, don't they?

That's why I don't like cars with built in nav. I prefer a handheld unit so I can take it from car to car. Updates are about $60, I believe and I've heard of many folks getting free updates from Garmin as well.

Edmond, you do get one free update disc. You have to go to the GM Nav Disc site to register to get it, but you do get the update disc. Mine arrived a little over a year after I got my '06.

Any disc you want to get after that will cost you. I figure the update I got will be reasonably accurate for at least a few years before I need to go and order a new one.

She just doesn't understand!

Speaking of nav systems, does anyone know whether or not there is possibly a software update for these ornery things? She just doesn't understand hardly anything I tell her. I say, "go home," she says, "bank icons" or some other answer she wants to give. I mean she puts up icons that sounded nothing like what I asked her for. The Caddy isn't always perfect either, but understands a whole lot better than the Vette. Gotta be some kind of fix. :confused ;help

Can't help but I just had to ;LOL at that one. That's the reason why I would never get nav on a vehicle, I'd rather get a Garmin and if it has problems, just the nav goes back to Garmin, not an entire car. ;)

Trust me Edmond I don't think GM's Nav is any bargain .My 08 came with it and I think for what ya pay it truly sucks .Garmin is way more user friendly for about a $1000 or more less.

Doesn't anyone know of a software update? There has to be something that will make the "broad in the dash" understand the verbal commands better. I've tried talking to her while the car isn't moving to eliminate any ambient noise, and she still puts up whatever she wants. For instance, I tell her "north up" and each time she puts up different "points of interest," none of which I'm interested in! PITA!!!
