Anyone know of someone near Louisville, KY that is good with quadrajets?

If you need a rebuild and not just adjustments, a great place in Oak Park Il. is A & G carb. He specializes in quads. Mine is GREAT after his rebuild.

Good reading here:

No rocket science involved with Q-Jets. Get Mr. Roe's book and rebuild yours.

These folks might help.

When you say, "near" Loiuisville....if Bowling Green qualifies as "near" there a darn good Corvette Specialist there called "Automasters". They can probably whip your Quadrajet in shape.

I went to the nearest parts store and got a rebuild... One afternoon and on the street again.

Well some of you may remember my 81 has had some wierd problems and I have been a tightwad (due to pregnant wife) about taking it to just anyone to look at. I found a friend of a friend that helped me get it fixed. It hasn't run this good in 10 years! He looked at it and I told him lets do whatever he would do if he owned it. About an hour later I had a box full of parts (choke, about 20 vacuum hoses, various other junk) that he told me really weren't necessary but to hold on to them in case of "originality" issues down the road. He simplified the carb and upped the timing among other things. It is unreal now. On top of this he used towels to cover the paint while working on it, and handed me the tools to do everything while he explained what to do so I learned a lot. We also eliminated a fixed inner filter in the breathing assembly that was totally clogged up and not even needed, and fixed some exhaust leaks. I know it isn't exactly stock now, but now I feel better about driving it and I am not scared of imports at the stoplight. I paid him for his time, and instead of buying parts I brought some home which isn't what I am used to.:)

i wonder if this guy knows anything about Holley Carbs....

Congrats on the great running car!

He actually told me to put a Holley on it, but no money for that so he just got the quadrajet running.

The only thing I was worried about is the fact that there is no choke, no flap on the primaries, and almost all the vacuum hose inlets/outlets are plugged, so I didn't know how the car would respond with this setup. It wasn't running worth a crap before, so I was willing to try anything. He told me to just let it warm up for a little while if I run it in the cold (which I don't very often). Anyone ever run a car with this setup? It runs very "strong" now so I am going to drive it and see how it goes. If things act up I have all of the parts so it can be put back stock, but I hope that isn't necessary.

Well I have been driving it all day and the only problem I have found is the battery light lights up and buzzes off and on. I am sure it thinks the car is dead; it was probably hooked up to one of the components I removed (choke, etc.). What do you guys think, just take the fuse out of it or something? Other than that the car is running like a scalded cat.
