Need help w/ the interior squeaks - late model c4

There seems to be no end to the squeaky stuff when you settle yourself into position to drive. Lean on the door arm rest - it squeaks, push back into the sport seat - it rubs against something & squeaks.

Has anyone come up with some fixes for the interior (soft parts) squeaks?

Not talking the targa here, the seats & doors.

Try putting some foam tape on the lid of the storage compartment in the door panel where it contacts the top of the compartment.

My seats squeaked like heck after I cleaned & conditioned them with Zaino leather products. Drove me nuts. Cured that problem by using Saddle soap to clean the seat upholstery. A lot of people bum rap Saddle soap, but it's the best product for leather I have ever used. It certaintly quieted the squeaking down. Give it a try.

I may try some saddle soap - remember - what I'm trying to do is quiet the squeaks - not clean the leather - the leather is very clean. I think I need to soften it - some. It's - actually - come to think of it-

IT'S PROBABLY VINYL ON VINYL!

It's the BACK of the seat against the CONSOLE probably.

What's good to lube up vinyl without getting messy.

For the leather seats, get some boot oil. Mink oil works the best but is somewhat aeromatic. A really good shoe repair shop will have it, especially if they do good boot work.

One thing to avoid like the plague = WAX

Most 'detail' fluids and popular 'treatments' are nothing more than furniture polish and loaded with wax. It's great for paint and looks great when first applied inside but will mold and ruin upholstry.

Clean the leather well, with saddle soap if it's really crummy, then treat it to a good boot oil. I've got a set of Red Wing boots that are 15 years old and still don't leak. The secret is clean and well oiled. And yes the happy leather squeeks like a good saddle.

My '66 Impala with vinyl is equally well kept and crack free.

I tried 'silicone' waterproofing on my combat boots (circa 1960). They cracked and fell apart. They'd still be giving good service if cleaned and oiled.
