So I am a Brit over here for a couple of years, and ALWAYS wanted a decent american sports car with a nice V8. Gas prices in the UK are almost FOUR TIMES here in the US, so the option of owning one in the UK was just not feasible.

Anyhow, I arrived here in May, heard about a crazy '92 C4 Conv. owned by a friend of a colleague, and JUST NOW PAID FOR AND COLLECTED IT!

Happy? You bet! It is by far the most scary and exciting car I have ever owned... it has been extensively modified with Carroll Supercharging parts, blueprinted, lowered, rollbar, shortened rear axle and 315/35 tyres.

It has some problems (like extensive squeaking from the rear), and I'll probably be asking for advice soon. In the meantime I will post some pictures.

Thanks for a great site

Congrats on your new purchase and welcome to :CAC ! Everyone here is very friendly and will give you great advise or help should you need it! Be sure to post some pics soon!

Welcome aboard mate...

Welcome to America:pat and Welcome to the CAC!You have found the best place online for information and data on your Vette.
Remember to wave at all the Corvettes you see....regardless of them waving back or not, wave at the car. Good luck and have fun in the new ride!

Welcome to the CAC I hope you enjoy the forums. You will enjoy the people.

Welcome! Congrats on the purchase. The squeaking noise might mean you need some new shocks or your suspension bushings may be wearing. Of course if it has been modified with polyurethane suspension, it might squeak too.

Here's the first pictures: Enjoy!

92s have the optispark????

congrats on the vette & for gettin' to this side of the pond! :)

Hi Rain,

I didn't understand what you meant by optispark?

Cheers,
Andy.

djxib,

Great looking vert, those five spoke wheels are sweet!

Yes, 92 to 96 have the optispark.

Thats what I thought - 92 was the start of the dreaded Opti!
haha

Don't fret it.. Great piece of ignition..
but,
DONT EVER SPRAY WATER ON YOUR ENGINE.
Don't pressure wash it. Dont hose it off.
Don't drive thru flooded streets.

If the optispark gets wet (its below the water pump, brilliant place, I know), its toast and your vette will not start until its replaced. (few hundred bucks to replace)

You do not have to worry about driving in the rain, but do keep an eye on the water pump and make sure its not about to go out. Will find water weeping around it.

Do a search here on the CAC for Optispark if ya need to know more about it.

(thanks B17crew)

Probably my final post to this thread, check out the engine photo attached.

It is running with a Carroll Supercharger and Superfueler (includes boost indicator LEDs and fuel mapping control from a box in the glovebox) - note the 3 additional injectors for this at the front of the intake manifold. It also has Water/Alcohol injection (20% alchohol) to cool intake temperature and prevent knock at high boost. This is controlled from a switch under the dash, and has a 'injection on' LED mounted on the dash.

I am not sure how much boost she is running, but I believe it is around 10lbs. It also has Borla exhaust mufflers. I expect to get a Dyno reading fairly soon, but according to the previous owner and all my paperwork it should be putting out around 500-550 bhp. Scary stuff....

Thanks for all your emails - makes me feel very welcome.

Cheers!
Andy.

You didn't just buy a Corvette, you bought a monster Corvette!!

Congratulations. Welcome to the site and welcome to America.

DJXIB,

Congratulations on your acquisition! I know exactly what you mean by "scary and exciting." A lot more fun than a Jaguar, huh?

Welcome to the CAC- this is the best place on the net to learn about your new ride. And don't forget to wave!
