I just closed on a deal on a CE LT4, and will pick it up tonight. I had my hopes set on a '94 ZR1, and had the deal closed, but the owner backed out.

Anyway, this LT4 is in great condition and has 50K miles, but appears to be well taken care of. I know it isn't a ZR1, but I will have fun with it nonetheless, and save around 16K while doing so.

Any advice, concerns, or recommendations before I sign the dotted line tonight, would be appreciated.

Look forward to chatting on the LT4 forum!

Get ready for a sore face from all the grinning!

I'd say you made a great choice for a Corvette! You'll be very happy with the LT4...I fall in love all over again each and every time I get behind the wheel of my Grand Sport!:love

Congrats! The LT4 is a fun car, nice choice of the CE edition.

As for concerns... Have fun with it!

Thanks for all of the kind words.

I brought it home last night, and enjoyed every minute of it. This was the first time I have driven an LT4, and it didn't dissapoint. The only non-stock item was the exhaust, which was a little loud for my taste. Does anyone have any suggestions on an exhaust replacement, or any other minor mod's?

thanks again.

Do you know what exhaust is on it already? That would help as far as suggestions are concerned.

Now that I said that, the stock exhaust will be the best for quiet driving and long life. CORSA gives a nice HP improvement without being too loud. Back to you.

Other mods I like to do are: open top air box for the air filter and replace the airfilter with a K&N one, then install a CAGS bypass if not already installed.

I have no idea what exhaust is currently on it. It almost sounds like a flowmaster, but I have flowmaster on my truck, and it's not quite the same.

I don't have any experience with corsa or borla, but that seems to be the preference. I would love a H.P. increase, so your recommendation would be appreciated.

Okay, I recently added the CORSA system to my car. I was looking for a little more rumble to go with my recently upgraded motor. A friend has 2 Grand Sports - one with CORSA (wive's car) and one with Power Effects (his car). The CORSA looks nice, sounds nice and fits very well. The Power Effects exhaust is much louder (full open) and resonates in the interior some. His recommendation was the CORSA considering that I drive mine every day and like to listen to the radio and my wife while in the car.

I also had the car dyno'ed before and after. The difference was 22 HP and 24 T improvement. That's good enough for me.

Congratulations on the new Vette. While I've got an 88 one of the club members also has a CE LT4. He just put Borla's on it and it sounds sweet. Maybe a little loud for me (I'm still running stock) but he loves it. He's had a ball with his car so far and hopefully you will too.

Good Luck!

I have a Flowmaster on my Grand Sport, and in no way is it loud!!! It's nice sounding, but I know a Corsa or Borla would be much louder, and that's probably not what you want. Maybe you already have one on and not a Flowmaster??

Everyone,

Thanks for the tips. I guess I'm just going to have to get the car on some ramps and try to figure out what is already on it. The more I drive, the more I like the sound anyway. However, I will take in all of your responses when looking for a replacement.

The only two things that I know for sure that I want to change, is the exhaust, and the brake calipers. The current exhaust tips are black, and I would like to have a stainless steel look. Secondly, the brake calipers are black, and I would like them to be red. However, I haven't been able to find any on-line.

GS Diva......looks like we may have a CE Diva, my wife has already stolen the car from me. It looks like I'm going to have a hard time getting it back!!!

Thanks again everyone....pictures to follow soon.

I have a stock exhaust that I took off when I put Corsa on. Good deal if you ever get to S. Calif. It's not very loud.

Tips need paint, that's all.

One thing about the Power Effects (PE) is the mufflers have six positions to choose from when open/closing the muffler flaps. You can make it quieter and no resonance by closing the flaps. For track days, you can then open them fully.

No other exhaust is made that will give you that option.

Congratulations on your new adoption. I have been interested in finding a Lt 4 convertible. I have been researching the market and getting feedback on the car. Let me know how you like the car.

sold mine lasy November, greatest car I every had to that point. If you are using it as a daily driver you got the better car vs the ZR1, in terms of maintanance and ease of finding repair facilitys. The LT4 is the second best engine every put in a C4.

I miss mine:cry

Thanks for everyone's feedback. I have been out of town for a week, so sorry for the slow response.

So far I absolutely love the car. Not only is it gorgeous, but it will flat out run. I can't have a decent drive without the local ricers pestering me. It's kind of funnny, they never tempt me when I'm in my '68???

The only issue that I have seen, is that it runs a little hot. I say this not knowing what the LT4 typically runs at. However, when I put the AC on, it immediately cools the engine down. This just doesn't seem normal to me.

Any feedback on this would be great.
