I got a new ECM in the mail today and wil change it soon. I want to do this without fying it, so i need someone to tell me how to do it the right way. I have a 1984 crossfire. I don`t know hvat caused the old one to go bad, but i suspect it was moist. Do i have to take the prom from old one ?? ETC.....ETC......Greatful for some answers :)

Disconnect the battery.

Disconnect the old ECM.

Remove old ECM.

Remove cal chip from old ECM.

Install cal chip into new ECM.

Install new ECM.

Reconnect battery.

Start the engine then drive the car 10 or 20 miles so the fuel trims can be relearned.

Hi and thanks

Thank you for your reply:beer. My old one is now out, and the PROM from old in the new one. But.........there was instruction to follow with the new ecm. It says to find out what caused the old ecm to go bad and measure ohm to solinoids, in the car before try it out. I did and one failed of course:mad. All solenoids supposed to be more than 20 ohm.. One of them was only 3. Measured in the connecting harness to ecm. white 8 and white 9. According to sheets i have this is to both fuel injectors. I ohm the injectors direct, and they are 1,4 ohm each, and that is what they are suppose to be so they should be ok. I know injectors to TPI 1985 up need to be more than 10 ohm . I have tryed to get in tough with the company that refurbished it, but no luck. My poin is if this ecm is set up to have 20 ohm or more from injectors and there is only 3, it will probably fry the ECM, i would think ??? The Ecm is a "Standard EM6026" Suppose to be made for 1984 mod corvette. Could the instructions followed the ecm be wrong ?. I dont know. Confused.
