New owner needs new clutch

I have owned my CE LT4 (first vette) about a month and the clutch has seized up. I have had clutches wear out on other rides but nothing like this. I had no slipping what so ever leading up to the point that it locked up. I am now in need of a new clutch kit and I'm not sure if the OEM clutch is the way to go. My car has the hotcam, headers, ported heads and intake and 4:10 gears. Here is a little history.

Had the car out for a ride on Sunday and I heard what I thought might be a bearing noise and planned to have it checked out the following day. I stopped at a burger joint on the way home and when I got back in I fired it up and pushed the clutch in and it lurched backward (it was in reverse) and then no pedal at all. Had it flatbedded to the Chevy dealer, boy was it painful watching it loaded and unloaded.:cry They told me the master cylinder seal went and proceeded to replace it. When I expect a call to tell me to pick it up they tell me the pedal will only go half way and that the pressure plate won't budge. I will need to replace it. Are they trying hard enough to get it to free up or is this a common scenerio and should I proceed to my first question of what clutch to install?

Can the OEM clutch handle the additional power of my mods? The current clutch was stock with a McLoed pressure plate. A previous owner told me it dynoed at 365hp.

Any help would be appreciated. I've lurked for about a year and gained valuable knowledge from this site that helped me in my purchase. In fact I didn't even know that an LT4 model existed when I first started looking for a vette until I came across the CAC during a internet search. Thanks in advance and sorry for the novel.

With the hydralic clutch, it should never slip or not disengage properly right up to the point where it dies. One of my worries as I have 100K on my car and it's still on the original clutch.

The OEM clutch should be able to handle the power of your LT4. Depending on how you drive it, it could last a long time also.

Thank you Tuna.

Would a trip or two a year to the drag strip and possibly a set of drag radials make difference in my clutch selection? I don't beat on the car, but power is too much of drug not to go thru the gears every now and then.:D I love this car!

Not being a drag racer (street kills only) and never having used drag tires, I really can't say.

I've been an autocrosser in the past with BFG R1s but they don't hook like drag tires. What you need here is a comment from vettelt93 or some of the others with more experience with that.

You'll be fine with the stock clutch. I have friends who run the stock setup and go to the track every weekend with no problems.

Thanks all4c4lt4,
I am going to give the go ahead for the stock setup. 12 months/12000 mi. warrantee. How long do I have to drive nice before I can get on it?
