My name is Scott, live in Middle Georgia, retired AF, and just bought my first Vette 2 days ago. Figured I'd treat myself to a retirement gift and I love American hotrods. It's a 2001 black on black Z06. First I had to get temporary tag and insurance and now the weather stinks so only driven it once two days ago.

It's a really nice car with a couple small issues that you may expect on a 15 year old Corvette. It appears that it has the "Rocking Seat" issue I've seen referred to on here and problem with left headlight going down and then popping back up. From what I read they're both simple fixes and I'll be knocking them out soon.

I'm excited to be a Corvette owner now and get to learn more about these cars, it seems like as a group Corvette owners are very passionate about their vehicles. I've been a "Car guy" since I was a teenager and still own my very first car, a 1967 Mustang that I bought about 27 years ago. It's no longer street legal but is a fun drag car that'll run 9s in the 1/4.

Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this forum and for all the amazing technical posts for newbies like me!

Welcome to CAC, scott. :w It appears that you've done your homework, before you jumped in, that's good. Best to go into a situation with your eyes wide open. Let us know if we can be of help....and post up some pictures of the 'new' ride. :thumb

Welcome to Corvette Action Center and Congratulations

Welcome aboard Scott and let me first thank you for your service to a grateful nation. Spent my time in the US Army 1965-1971. My older brother retired for the USAF too now on to civilian life, quite an adjustment but you will adapt pretty quickly, I've grew quite fond of those 6 and sometime squeeze 7 Saturdays in a row, wow wee loving it and so will you. I know you will like it here the staff is great, the members are second to none and always able and willing to help where they can. As you can see I have a y2k Black Coupe w/6-speed manual transmission and love it to death, not perfect has the stone chips, etc. so she is not a garage queen by no means but still looks good to me. Not sure no more than I drive it I could ever justify a new one in my mind and not sure I want one either, I still think the C-5 series is the best of the best , love the lines, style, still dig'n the hidden headlights too since what 1963 to 2004, for 41 years was a trademark for Corvette! Anyway enjoy your retirement, enjoy the Vette, keep it between the poles, have fun, live long, healthy and enjoy the small things in life, but sometimes the most rewarding. so stop and smell that rose occasionally.

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and helpful welcoming posts. Finally got to put a few miles on the car this weekend and of course had to wash it before taking it out. Have another post of the forum for technical help and the response has been fantastically helpful. I promise to get some good pics posted soon!
