Well,,,I did it. Had to sneek it home and hide it but I got what i wanted. Got an '02 Z-06. Elec. Blue with 18,000 miles. Was turned in on a lease to my credit union last May. I talked to the guy who leased the car and he hated to get rid of it. But he wants a C-6 Z-06 when they come out. So he turned it in. He kept excellent records and it was a Nat'l Corvette Museum delivery. The CU made me a super deal cause it had been around for so long. There was a lot of interst in the car, but no one wanted a 6-speed. So that is the reason they had it so long. Got 4 new tires, all fluids changed by a chevy dealer who specializes in corvettes, and a 4 year extended warranty. GREAT CAR. The drive home to N.C. was exciting and way to quick. I love the way this car handles and the power. On the trip home had a Mustang GT pull up beside me on I-95. I looked at him, he looked at me, then he looked at the car and shook his head no and quickly backed off. Talk about getting respect. Anyway, it is safely at home in the garage waiting my return for some more fun. Oh-yes, I did inform the wife about my new toy. After we took it to dinner Sat night she fully approved the new car. So all is well.

Congratulations on your new ride. You will love that car. I have a 2002 EB Z06 with about the same mileage. Great fun!

Cool. I love the color when the sun hits the blue. Loads of fun. when we went to dinner sat night we had to cruse through town several times :cool . Had lots of looks and finger pointing. Of the 8500 or so Z-06s made in '02 it is just way cool to own one of them:) . also met a fell vette owner sat and got my first:w .

Thanks Rob. Now that I work up here in your part of the world I need to find a garage next spring to bring up some entertainment. MaineShark has informed me that the White mountains are a great site to visit and it sounds like a good excuse for crusing either the C-4 or the Z.

SWEEEET!

EB is a wonderful color on the Z06. It has just the right amount of pizazz and elegance. Congratulations.
I loved this part:

Better get used to the mustang owners :BOW to you :cool

Tammy

Thanks Tammy. The Mustang driver was a little older than most stang drivers and I think he knew that the stang was no match once he seen that the vette was a Z. I think if it had been a younger driver they would have tried it just to see if they could score a BIG kill. Of course I certainly didn't buy the z for racing. Just a way cool ride that has a lot of ponies to spank most of the cars on the road when the need arises.

HeavyDuty, you had to "sneak it home"? I sense a story there. :D

Congrats on your acquisition, and welcome to the wonderful world of Z06 ownership! Post some pics when you get a chance! And we'd love to hear the details of why you had sneak it home, and how you accomplished that.

(Okay, I'd love to hear the details! I love great stories about Corvettes and their owners.)

Welcome to the area, and congrats on the Z06. Maybe next year you can make it to one of the cruise nights at the Hebert Candy Mansion, put on by "Corvettes United" of central MA. I can provide you with their web address if you're interested. They also put on some great shows. In any event, enjoy that new ride!

COred91,

This was one of those deals that was very good and I didn't have time to get permission from the War Department (wife). So until I could come up with a very good way to break the news I had to hide the car in the garage. The next morning i told the wife to lets go out to dinner and celebrate our wedding anniversary. I had a special ride that we could cruse in. That evening under the cover of darkness. I picked her up at the front door with the Z to go to dinner. After much discussion at how nice the car rode and all I broke the news to her that WE owned it. After explaining the details to her she was in full agreement. But I am not out of the woods yet. Christmas is around the corner and I am sure that a much wanted item will be told to Santa.

JJS,
I would love to get in on the meet. I will be looking for a garage next spring to park the vette in before I bring one up. I'll have to find out the details. I do plan on making the Corvettes at Carlise next summer as well.

Talk about the art of fighting without fighting.:D

Congratulations, best of luck with it! :beer

Thanks gang. Hey, slong, since i don't have any pics yet I just may have to steal yours to send to friends. I haven't been keeping pace with the world of photography and have yet to purchased a digital camera. I think i'll put that down on my xmas wish list...oh wait. She told me that looks like my xmas came early. I wonder what she ment by that;help .

So far things that are way cool about this car:
1. Cluster panel: i love how the speedo looks like it is superimposed forward of the tack at night. The wife also thinks this is way cool.
2. HUD. I love how you can dial down the HUD so that at night the display is reading just to the right of the front headlight. WAY COOL. The wife also thinks this is way cool.
3. Figured out how the memory works for the seat. So both mine and the wifes seat adjustments are now programed into the memory.

Things that are not so cool:
1. The 1st to 4th skip shift. Not sure what that is for and I am still playing with it to find out what will cause it to lock the 2nd and 3rd gear shift out. I know that it has something to do with engine RPM. i also think that it has something to do with the last owner since the car is still learning my driving habits. Looks like i may be ordering one of the dummy switchs so I can use all gears when I want.
2. I have discovered that I have a water leak in the rear of the overhead. When I drove the car home from the D.C. area last week it was raining like cats and dogs. I noticed that the overhead was damp around the top of the rear window. Well yesterday I was washing the car and discovered that there is a screw attached at top of the headliner just above the rear window where the water is coming in. Checking the outside of the car, the only thing that I could find that could be the source is the rear window rubber mask. The leading edge of the mask is raised off of the body just a little. This area is just to the left of the roof contour and is about 2-3" in length. So..it looks like I'll be heading off to the dealer to have that issue resolved. Has anyone else had a probelm with a leaky Z-06. The guy who had the car before me never mentioned a leak. But then he kept the car in the garage and didn't drive it in the rain. But, I am sure that he would have noticed the problem when he washed the car. Of course the guy who owned the car before me probably had it detailed and no one at the detail shop ever told him about it. I am sure glad that the leak is not up around the windshield.

Other than that, great car. It turns heads, and yes, most other cars:BOW when the Z is in their presence:cool .

Screw the pics. Wait til mod fever sets in. Get yourself a Veraram or something else and you're doomed. These are nice too: :D

You are right about the mods. But, If i ever want to own a digital camera I better buy that first or I may never own one once I start with the mods. I do want some BORLA stingers and yes the veraram. It looks like the guy who owned the car before me bought some (no all) of the screens that you have in the link. I will be buying and installing the rest. I have to finish the C4 frist though before i can start the moding of the Z. Right now it is being preped for new paint and interior, and some other goodies that I have bought and yet to install (BORLA Challengers).

Jason,
thanks. Went home for Thanksgiving (NC) and it was sooo nice that I couldn't resist doing some crusing in the Zzz. Met up with several vettes down on the Beach (OBX) and we had a good time crusing:cool .
