Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

new to vettes

Welcome! I am a retired auto mechanic myself. Corvettes got me into the mechanical field over forty years ago. Glad you stopped by.

Thanks. I've worked on a lot of cars but this one has me stumped. She runs great cold then starts to hesitate bad under acceleration . like a vacume leak but can't find it

Used to be a tech. Still work on cars a lot but, for the most part, only the "fleet" the Wife and I have.

Welcome to the CAC!

Block off the vacuum source on the intake. You won't be able to operate your headlights but if you drive it that way you may find the leak is in the headlight system. I found a pinhole in the vacuum reserve canister on my 69. A quick spot weld took care of that problem. I also found one of the headlight actuators had a hole in the diaphragm. This will be a tedious job, trust me. In the process of restoring it I replaced all of the vacuum hoses. With a 76 at least you don't have a wiper door that is vacuum operated. Good luck.

You need to get a reader or a Tech 2 and look at the fuel trims to see what is really going on. If you have a vacuum leak, the computer will be feeding extra fuel to maintain the A/F ratio.

Welcome to the Forum. Hope you get your engine problem fixed. :w
