Hey all!!! Im new to the site. I have a 1980 L-82 350. The car was rebuilt so its now in mint condition. I know this question was prolly asked alot so im sorry but I want my Vette running alittle faster. My plans are first im gonna get some flowmasters 40 series then edelbrock intake with 750 cfm holley... With these small mods will I see any improvement in performance? How much Hp would be gained? Any tips as to what I should do to really bring this car to life? I don't want to do anything major yet... Im also stuck with my cats for another year.... Any advice would be great!

Thanks
Kyle

Welcome aboard CAC!
First, verify ... verify exactly what you & your '80 can get away with (emissions) in your locale.

More often than not, tinkering around the edges don't do too much but introduce headaches. Suggest you come up with a unified plan with a budget. Maybe you might develop that while waiting for any emissions issues to subside? Are you equipped with tools, skills, space & time that'll allow YOU to remove, disassemble/reassemble & replace a motor, rear gear etc? If not, get 2 or 3 books on rebuilding sbc & hi-po building sbc.

Don't simply drop a "bigger" carb on there ... please note: OE Rochester QuadraJet carb is also rated at 750 cfm ... and when Qjet is in good condition and properly tuned it is about as good a street vette carb as there is.

In general... increased compression matched to more cam will do a lot.

I agree with Jack, you are not going to gain much with an intake and carb swap unless your quadrajet is junk.If you can get away with it, your best bet would be a set of true dual exaust with headers to go with those Flowmasters.
