Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I have an '84 Z51 coupe that I had been working on (It was in a flood) but ran into title issues with my insurance company. So, I am going to sell it and I now have an '88 base coupe. It has a blown motor but is otherwise all there and certainly in fixable shape. I am dropping a '92 L05 350 into it along with a factory ported TPI base and runners, Speed Pro cam, Hedman Elite headers, new D.U.I distributor and a few other bits and pieces. I'm a diehard F-Body guy but got bit by the C4 bug with my '84. I've worked on these cars in years past and enjoyed it. My dad and mom had a '62 in Roman Red and a swapped in 365 hp 327 back in the late 1960s. So, I guess I qualify as a 'legacy' LOL! :L You can see my son working on the '84 earlier this summer. I'm raising him right!

As for myself I am married with a 4 year old son who LOVES cars and helps me work on 'em. My wife has an '85 TA that's black and gold with a transplanted '96 LT1/T56 combo that came from her wrecked '96 TA. My mom owns an '02 SOM TA WS6. So, we love our fast cars. I am the Internet/Social Media manager for a local CDJR dealership in my area.

Thanks for having me and I welcome any constructive thoughts/opinions on my '88. The '84 will go up in the FS section by the weekend.

Later,

Lee

That looks like you have quite a project ahead of you. Glad you have a crew to help as I do think it's going to take some time and money before it's complete

Paul, I will use the 4+3 transmission. I'll put a new clutch in it since it will be separated from the engine.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words! Got her home today and cleaned up. First bath in nearly 7 years!

Later,

Lee

P.S. Yeah, those wheels would be awesome for sure.

Parts for the 4 plus 3 are hard to come by, and not getting easier. Something to keep in mind.

Tranny

Bought my 86 convertible in August, already had the 4+3 swapped out for a Tremec TR3550 (based on info from Tremec). It's a suitable replacement as far as I'm concerned for Street use. Far as I can tell, it uses everything stock before and after the tranny so it's one that's worth consideration. Only downside to this is it takes a convertor to change the speedometer signal to be compatible with the digital dash.

Thank to you both for your thoughts on the 4+3. I do know that parts are slowly getting scarce...shoot, the short shift kit is discontinued and that sucks too. Down the line the Tremec or a ZF will be in the works but for now the 4+3 will work fine for what I need.;)

Thanks,

Lee
