No more parades for Baby

I never do parades with ANY of my cars. I get a lot of flack from my "buds" for not doing it.

Overheating is the main issue, riding the clutch is another.

Riding the "Homecoming Queen" is another activity that I've successfully avoided too.

NOT my thing. :) Chuck

Sorry I missed the parade and breakfast at Arners. I was ready heading out of the house, when one of those unforseen things came up (again). Didn't know that abut Biden. Glad to hear the parade, at least from our perspective went well....So u guys were playing cat and mouse, eh?

From the guy in the C-1 who was playing cat and mouse with you on the way home after the parade, Baby sounded mighty fine and none the worse for wear! However, for all of the reasons yuo've stated, my '66 big block stayed home and the '60 rolled in the parade. Just imagine if it was hot instead of the nice mid '70's weather we enjoyed? It was nice having one example of each generation except for the C-6 anyway so I'm glad you stuck it out as the only C-2 in the parade. Maybe next time we should line up in order, descending or ascending, doesn't matter. By the way, for those of you who aren't from Delaware, our Senator Joe Biden who intends to run for the Democratic nomination for President of the U. S. greeted all of us personally as he walked against the tide slapping hands. Ole Joe has a '67 roadster home in the garage! Imagine that, a Corvette guy in the white house! Instead of a chicken in every pot it would be a Corvette in every garage! ;LOL

Terry
your '60 looked great yesterday and especially looked great as I passed you on '95 at 100mph. Your headlights look great in my rearview mirror! ;LOL
It was funny watching you try to steer with one hand and keep grabbing hold of your cap with the other so it wouldn't blow off. :D
That was a fun run back home though!

Yep, Joe Biden mentioned his '67 when he shook my hand during the parade. He should have brought it out with him

Chuck

if we get the C4 for my wife it will be an auto tranny and that I wouldn't mind taking in a parade but NEVER with an manual tranny again!

Andy

yep, we missed you there but knowing you figured that something important kept you away.
Yep, Terry and I had fun on the way back home on I95 and Rt141 :) BUT.......... Jack was the one who really started the fun with his burnout in the Calloway....... :D

Barry, now you have it right about the driving thing being the fun part. When ever you once again participate in a parade with a C4, all you will be doing is putting the same stress on the engine and tranny as you did with " Baby " but because it will be an automatic you think it will be fine. Well automatics, don't particularly like to crawl around long distances in high heat either.

If you must take part in parades, why don't you buy a FLOAT ;LOL

when we eventually get the C4 for my wife I'll worry about any possible parade use than. At least I wouldn't have to worry about the clutch. At the speeds we were going all I'd have to do it leave the car in gear and the idle speed would be enough to move us forward with the auto trans! ;LOL
It would be about the same speed in a parade as when I was living and working around Washington DC - the traffic is so bad there anymore that even the main highways are gridlocked and move at the speed this parade did! ;LOL

The one good news about the parade the other day was what Terry mentioned in his post - at least it wasn't very hot, mid-70's give or take - so overheating wasn't an issue that day no matter what my gauge falsely tells me. I WAS glad that we finally got my new fan clutch installed while at Carlisle though or it may have turned out even worst! (THANKS Paul!)

Mor'ning Barry,

Glad to see I'm not the only one getting in some keyboard time this early.

You are absolutuly correct about a parade being akin to heavy traffic, we sometimes tend to forget the stressfull ( on the car ) situations we sometimes drive through. Once while driving to Montreal for a show ( which I won :D ) I was stuck in traffic for almost 30 minutes, and I can gurantee, no amount of fans ( I have two ) would let me use the AC while in the heat. I had to turn all the accessories off, and keep the engine around 1000 rpm's in order to get enough air to circulate under the hood. Boy was I glad to get out of that one.

I HATE, HATE, HATE traffic!!! and that's in the Vette or even my wifes Lexus.
I'm beginning to take the attitude that nobody else should be allowed on MY roads while I'm on them - they just get in my way, slow me down, and annoy me..........
;LOL

(and yes, any road is MY road as long as I'm on it no matter where that road may be........ ) :D

just don't call me Meathead.......... although at times it may be appropiate....

:D

Edith was a treat. Reminds me of my Wife who almost went for a natural gas winter price scam a few moments ago at the front door. I had to intervene and rip up the contract in her face and the salesperson. She is so....needy of some knowledge on these matters. I am Archie I guess! Damn, these door-to-door low-lifes p*** me off!!

Paul

my wife is one that just sits and listens to the d*mn telephone solicitors and is nice to them, even when they call during dinner. I keep telling her to just hang up.
If I answer the phone during those calls they get about 3 words in before they hear the click of me hanging up.
