Hello to all. I have an '85 that I have spent the last 24 months fixing all the little things that I have neglected until I retired. I have everything, including taking the entire dash out and apart to find a shorted wire that I have been plaqued with for years that caused the courtesy lights to fail. I hate to admit it, but the wiring problem was vreated when I hooked up my charger in the dark and reversed the cables when the door was open and I cooked the entire .5 red and white wire that ran all the courtesy lights, et al. It now runs like a top and everything works as it's supposed to. BUT, when it's idleing, the air diverter valve has an internal rattle that bothers the heck out of me and you can hear it clearly as the only noise that shouldn't be there! To make sure I am describing it correctly, it's about a 2 inch cube, it's mounted just forward and to the right of the TPS, it's the furthest one forward in the group of three valves and has one vacuum hose and a place for a second that has a capped rubber plug. Reading my manual , it shows that there is a relay inside, but nothing shows whether there are any mechanical parts that may be the cause. I haven't tried to take it apart in fear of messing it up. Everything in the emmision train seems to work well, but the rattle bothers the heck out of me. Is there a chance that the vacuum is incorrect and causing the rattle internally?
I know this is a minor problem, but after all the work I've put in to it, I want it to purr like it's suppose to!
