Ok gang,

I replaced the seals on the headlight actuators' rods and tested the actuators themselves for leaks, but the problem now is that the headlights rise offset or uneven.

The right-side comes-up first and before locking, the left side begins to rise, and then the right side locks and the left side finishes its locking process.

On the retract, they're pretty even while closing. What am I missing?

Thats pretty common. Have you checked to make sure all 4 springs are in place on both sides? What do the seals look like on the other actuator?
Swap the relays around and see what it does. Did you do a full rebuild? There may be some binding in the pins for the clevises, pull em and grease em

Mine have always done exaxtly what yours do. I figure, "Hey. they come up and go down, don't mess with it." Hope you get it straightened out. God bless, Sensei

Sixfooter,

I replaced both shaft seals on both actuators. I used a vacuum pump to test the actuators for leak and function while uninstalled.

Relays? :confused

Chris,

You are right, but I am pretty sure that I have seen older C3's and C2's which deploy their headlights pretty evenly. There's got to be a way. ;shrug

C-2s were electric (motor) headlights weren't they? And when '68 came around I believe they went to vacuum. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I didn't think it was possible to get them up and down at the exact same time.

mine do not come up or retract together.just figured that is the way it is!
