Nope, but someday.
Hi there,
This post is for all c5 owners. There is no longer a PF44 oil filter for c5. The new filter is a PF46, which contains better filter media.
I have not been told if there will be a synthetic filter media version, UPF46.
Once PF44 stocks are depleted, that will be it.

Anyone going to buy a couple of cases of PF44 filters for future sales as New Old Stock to future restorers?

If, as c4c5specialist reports, the new filter is better - why would anyone want to put an inferior filter on their car? I must be missing something.

C4/C5 Specialist, Thanks for the info !!! Just one more reason why I love the site !!!!

Just signed up, nice place :w. I use FRAM filters and change oil every 3000. Should I be using the PF type or does it matter?

Also I have a 2002 TA with the LS1, same filter, but does not require Synthetic. Is using Synthetic in a Corvette a GM/Mobile 1 corporate thing? Are the Fbody LS1's any different? Just curious why the difference.

Thanks
Cal :)

One reason might be that the new version is essentially untested in daily use on a large fleet of vehicles. Things happen.

Has the UPF44 been d/c'd, too?

You would need an original oil filter for a NCRS or Bloomington Gold-type restoration. They both reward originality. Since the PF44 was on the car when it was new, that is the one that needs to be on it in 20 years' time. It is the same with the older ones. Originally, I think they were white then they were changed to blue. If your car came with the white and you have the blue you get points deducted.

It is just one example of how detailed some restorations can be.

Hi there,
Filters do matter, however, Fram, Wix and many other state IN WRITING that they either meet or exceed OEM specifications. This is just fine.
As for the Mobil 1, this oil has been factory fill since 1992, in LT1. As long as the synthetic oil that you use states on the bottle, that it meets GM spec 4718M, you can use the oil in the c5.
F car is different, as the stresses are not the same as c5. F car owners are not as particular about their cars in general.
Allthebest, and welcome, c4c5:hb

The NCRS guys are manic about originality, since the criteria of the competition states that the car must appear as it originally delivered by the factory. Since the PF44 was OE on the Corvette, NCRS Judges would either require that a PF44 be in place, or that a qualified substitute (as acknowledged in the NCRS Judging Book) be use, if the PF44 were to be discontinued.

I just changed the oil in my C5 this past weekend. Problem is that nobody had the PF44 or the new PF46. :(

So I purchased my first K&N filter instead. :) Hope to have the PF46 in stock near me soon.

I have not heard good things on Frams. I remember seeing pictures a while back that clearly showed the Frams as having inferior build quality. I bet I could google them back up in anyone is interested.
