Well, we're back to work on my 92, replacing water pump, opti, timing cover gasket etc, and I wanted to know if we need to loosen the exhaust to remove the oil pan? the fsm says it needs to be loosened but it doesn't seem to be in the way?

If you have to lift the engine then you want to loosen the exhaust . If you don't you could bind and brake something.

Glenn, we got the pan off without lowering exhaust and we didn't jack up the engine either, just unbolted the starter, I wasn't sure, Thanks though
