After buying my 91 Vette, I changed the oil to Mobil 1 10w-30 and K&N filter. Since the change, the oil pressure gauge is reading slightly higher. When the engine was cold yesterday, the pressure actually topped out just under 80. Once it was warmed up, it was slightly higher than it was. Warmed up, it usually is in the middle of the gauge range, with slight flucuations above and below depending on rpm. I checked the oil level with the engine warmed up, and it was still the same, so I'm not burning oil. The oil temp is slightly lower.
I know the cars gauges aren't terribly accurate, but I did see a difference before and after, and wanted to make sure nothing is wrong.

If the switch to 10W30 was from a 5W30, a slight increase in oil pressure would not be unusual.

When cold the pressure will be on the high end , after the temp rises the pressure will go approx. mid range.
That's been my experience.

It has been my experience when changing over to Synthetic oil that most engines will hold slightly higher presure. This is because synthetic does not thin as much with heat. Also the engine temp in hot weather will not raise as much. Weather this is do to better lubrication or better heat transfer I don't know, but I know it happens. :w

Thanks guys...I'll keep and eye on it for a little while.
