Oil pressure sensor fail?

Starting my car up the oil pressure immediately sweeps across to 80psi and on the dic it reads 130psi. Then drops and sweeps right back up and stays. Obviously it's not making that much pressure. So my question is.. How hard is it to replace? Is it completely necessary to remove the intake? If so step by step instructions? Anything would help. Thank you I'm advance!!

Gibby, mine failed and I had it replaced. They pulled the intake off to change the
sender, and replaced the "o-rings" that seal the manifold to the heads as well.
It's a pain to do, and there are 2 ways to do it that I know about. One is to remove
the intake, and the second is to drill a large hole in the cowl above the sender and
replace it from above. I've also seen kits that let you relocate the sender out from under
the cowl to make it easier to do it the next time, but have never seen one done in person.
Took the guy about 2 hours to do mine with me watching and asking questions.........

I was thinking I'd just pull the intake. Seems fairly simple.. Anything I should look out for? Little trucks someone know a about pulling these intakes off?

Best 2 suggestions I can offer are 1.) get the 3 volume factory service manual set for your year,
and 2.) just be very careful when you do the work. Most people cover the intake holes in the
heads with the wide blue "painters tape" to prevent things from falling down there. Keep tabs on
where everything comes from so it goes back into the same positions, and don't forget to torque
the manifold down in the sequence shown in the service manual. Have fun.........

IIRC, this is a COMMON problem with our cars. I watched a video on youtube where the guy changed it out without pulling the manifold and without drilling the hole in the cowl. I'd have to do a search to see itf I can find the right video.

I think this is the one I saw more than a year ago.

:thumb I do it that way all the time Tom,takes less than 10 minutes after you've done a few of them.

And I've done several few of them!:L

Thanks Dadaroo and Jesse! I figured Junkie would know whether or not this was a valid method. There you go!
