In my 76 the oil pressure gauge reads high almost pegged at 80. I checked with a direct press.gauge and it is 40-50. I replaced sending unit and gauge and still have problem. I checked continuity in the wire from the sending unit to gauge. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Odd normally one of these would have revealed something.
Unplug the sender unit, this should make the gauge peg high. then ground the wire at the sender unit, this should make it peg low.
If this is not what happens then you may have a bad gauge (even though it is new). try the same tests as above at the gauge to confirm.
I'm guessing your continuity on the wire was less than 0.5ohm.

I understand that you also need a clean contact between the sender and the block. If you happened to use Teflon sealing tape or any other type of insulator it could be the causal factor. Mine would fluctuate all over the place - and, despite the majority of Forum consensus/postings pointing to the gauge it was the sending unit that was the culprit and the new one fixed it.
