OK explain this one...1963 Window Frame Differences???

The 63 Assembly Manual does not show this.... The WINDOW FRAME Holders are different on each side of the car in 1963..(don't know about other years}.

Let me expain:

The driver's side window frame has really no window guides or rubber window frame stoppers on the frame. it just bolts on to the sissor device that is attached to the regulator so you can lower and raise the windows. Now the passenger side, as shown in the Manual, has the guide and the rubber window stoppers.

My question is...why is the driver's door different then the passengers door...when did they make both of them with window guides? Can somebody explain this to me????

The sash you show for the driver's side appears to be a '65-'67 part, not a '63, and only the convertible used the up-stop brackets and bumpers; the coupe didn't use bumpers.

Thanks for the info, but do you have any idea what a 63 window frame would look like. And regarding the sash I labeled passanger, I agree, but the assembly manual shows the rear bumbe being used for the coupe. The assembly manual really isnt that good when it comes to explain details. Would love to see that the drivers side looks like...I am so CONFUSED....

I don't have a '63 manual, but both the '65 and '67 manuals show the front and rear bumpers as used only on convertibles (19467 style); the item numbers on the brackets and bumpers that show the part numbers are noted "19467", and View "A" that shows the assembly of the rear bumper and bracket is noted "19467". Coupes didn't use the bumpers - the glass bottoming out in the upper horizontal glass channel was the up-stop; convertibles didn't have a door frame and upper channel, so they used the adjustable brackets and rubber bumpers at both ends of the sash to set the limit of "up" travel.

I do have a pair of 63 doors. The doors are on the car but the internals are in my basement. The drivers window is not there but the passenger window is still intact with the track that you speak of. I have other tracks from a later mid year which are a little different. I can send a picture if you wish, but I will need a day or two to get a friend of mine to take the picture(no digital camerea yet)
The doors where taken off a car some time ago(top was bent on drivers side, but fixed now) and stored for many years in a barn...no rust anywhere.
I am not a vette authority on this, but I can send you the picture if it will help and it will tell you more than I can
From your pictures: It has the shorter bracket as in the drivers side and the angled portion as in the passengers side without the rubber and bracket that holds the rubber

Please send pictures, this is really bothing me. I have gotten several replies via email, and I still am at ground zero as all are different. To this day I still have no idea what should be on the car for a 1963. I have a funny feeling the one on my photo labeled drivers side is correct, and would love to compare with what is on the passenger side that you have....THANKS

I asked my friend to take a picture for me and will try to get it done tomorrow or wed at the latest. I went through my parts and found another window track from a later mid year(not 63) It is the same as the passenger side you have, so I don't think your passenger side is 63. The drivers side does not have the same triangular piece as any of the ones I have including the 63. It does however have the same rectangular piece at the other end.
Could your passenger side be for a covt? The 63 piece that I have has the same triangular piece as the passenger side without the rubber and little bracket holding the rubber, but the same rectangular piece as the drivers side.
Actually if you cut the top portion of the square piece down on the passengers side to the height of the drivers side you show ,without the rubber: it would look like my 63 window.
I hope this makes sense. I have not seen a convt window frame but I wonder if that is what you have? I know the vent window frame is a lot different from coupe to convt.
I went back down and checked them again and if you took your passenger side frame and cut down the ht , so the square was a rectangle, it would be the same as a 63. The 63 has the holes for the bracket to hold the rubber part, but it just does not have it on

One mystery solved. The PASSENGER SIDE is from a 1967 Convertable...YEAH,

The other one above is correct for the 63. You are right with the passenger side, it is slightly different then the drivers side, and does not have the brackets.

The pic with the glass was out of my 63 door. The other track is from a later midyear. The rubber bumper and bracket are not on it. The only difference is the square/rect piece.

That's exactly what I got. The photo I labeled passenger was one I bought. I did the Passenger door first and it looked exaclty like the one in your photo, so I put that one in. Then bought the one in my photo, it was sent to me as a DRIVERS side. So I knew it was a passenger side, but was sent to me as a MID YEAR window frame. The one above (labelled Driver side) I bought to make sure the one I had was correct and was sold to me. So to make the long boring story short, I have the correct ones in the coupe, and have an extra 63 drivers side and extra 67 Convertible passenger side...

MANY MANY thanks to all, you educated me on window frames...something like this should be put in a book...seems like the midyears have parts like this that changed and the assembly manual does not show them...
