Fly A C6

Guest
Hey friends

For 6 years I've had a black billet aluminum shift knob on my T/As and wanted one for the C6. The company that made them went out of business, but another bought their inventory. They didn't make one for the C6, but had one in the right size, about 2" in diameter, for the C5 which was threaded. The C6 shift rod isn't threaded so I cut it at the bottom of the notch and put threads on it. Pics link below.

The common mod was a padded console cover.

Don't bring that car to Vegas in the summer time! I still have the burn mark on my right palm from the one that was dealer installed on my 98 Coupe. Interior temps here get to about 200 or higher.

The WS6 with a billet aluminum knob has seen a few days of 110 degree outside temperature in the San Fernando Valley. I keep a microfiber towel to cover each one for 5 minutes until the a/c cools them off. I bought them because I like big knobs. Don't all men?

why not just switch to a short throw shifter and that way you use a c5 knob any ways

I really like the feel of the stock shifter. Having had a B&M Ripper in my 97 T/A, a 3" shorter Lou's short shifter in my 02 WS6, and shifted a C6 with one I knew about the much greater effort required in shifting a short throw shifter and didn't want it in the C6. With the C6 shift rod being just ~ 1/2" shorter there is no extra effort needed.

i felt the same way before i got the breathless performance short throw i had used a b&m before in a c6 and it was very hard to use but the breathless performance came with 4 different spring tensions i put it on medium soft and it feels just like stock but shorter about 30% but other wise i understand what you mean about the b&m being tuffer to use
