52 F-1 the 383 in my vette was in that from 91-95 when we moved to Ohio the 4-5 mpg that the 3:73 rear gave was killing me with a 50 mile round trip to work so I put a 305 in it and drove it till 1998 when the 305 gave up the ghost (3000 rpm cruise speed)
lt has 4 wheel disk brakes and running gear from the third gen Camaro Fat-man front end. The Cab has 3" in out of the top and set down over the frame 2"
It has sat since I bought my Vette in 1999, but I have two years to get it back together for Craig Jr so he will have something "different" to drive probably a v6 or a 305 so he can afford to drive it.
the black car is a 96 Impala SS my wife drives in the summer so you can see we are a Hot Rod Family

52 F-1<-----well,at least I was close! Does Jr. wanna sell?:D :(

Hey can anyone give me the measurements of that top if you have time please. I would call them myself but I absolutely do not have any time to call them myself before work or during the week. I really want to get one but the whole stereo issue w/ the backspace is going to play a factor. Im looking to get it next weekend.

:beer :CAC What stereo you got in the vette? I need to put one in pretty bad!

I have a custom autosound with a 6 disc changer, it looks like a stock radio
http://www.custom-autosound.com/

as far as the measurements are concerned it is the same size as both your t-tops set side by side or @28"x53"
the 78 and later have more space inside then the earlier models, the only reason I have a problem is the placement of my 6 disc changer, I am too lazy to move it.

I have had the f-1 for 15+ years, I don't think I will sell it. It needs an engine and I am putting in "frenched" headlights and a tube grill.
Its not as much fun as the Corvette, but sure suprizes people at stop lights :L

thanks, bossvette.I was wondering what that pic of 1974vette's stereo was also

do a search of recent posts there is a company which makes a gage cluster for modern stereos and several CAC members have them

OK! What should I put in the search? "Guage clusters"..."stereos":confused :D

Thanks..I was just typing in stuff, and found poeple talking about stereos, but not what you mentioned...I'll check out your link now!

Ya,I found it! You're right, its $179.95! It might be worth it is youre concerned about not tearing the dash up,& wanting a better stereo w/o hiding components somewhere. But thats if it allows you to get your original dash piece out & save it with no damage,so you or whoever buys the vette could replace it later if they wanted.:crazy :eyerole Hey,you're in Orlando? I got relatives there! I was born in JAX. I bet the weathers alot nicer than here in Washington State......

i got the bezel from vette specialties as you all have mentioned. i have to reccomend it also....i love it and do not think it could be better...incase you havent saw my previest post...go here to see pics of my instrument cluster and stereo...

hope this helps...-matt

So,Matt, you think the materials are good? Sometimes stuff like that I find is made very thin,or breaks/cracks easy.I think I might pick one up when I get the cash, since you say its good stuff.I just paid for alot of other items for the '79,so I hope the price doesnt go up soon:cool

i am satisfied with my bezel...and since my other bezel was already worn out and cut...i replaced it with this.

let this picture explain itself....

C3R yes it was a balmy 76 today, just right for t-tops.
i am just going to buy another gauge bezel. stocks are relatively cheap. so i won't mind cutting it. plus making any mounting brackets at work is a peice of baklava.....

hmmmm maybe ride the harley to work tomorrow.then the vette on wed.

BUBBA, shade trees are us!

Hey C3Rvette, I have a sony(boooo) head installed in the vette right now. Fortunately it was already installed when I bought it so I didnt have to chop up the dash myself. Whoever did it though did a great job.

In the back I have a 10inch sub in a truck box. Behind the drivers seat I have a 300Watt amp that hides nicely. The box doesnt take up too much room.

Iam going to replace every component in the spring which is going to cost a bundle. Im a serious audiophile so the stereo sytem, to me, is just as important as the paint job. As long as i can pound my favorite tunes then everythings alright.

Hey! Sounds good! I think I'm just gonna carve mine up for now,cuz you can get replacements cheaper it looks like, than buying that unit DIN sized already from vettespecialties.com.Hey Macgyver, you work out?:D You sure look pumped in your "sig" pic!:eek :L
