When it's in the blood, it never ends. :v

Very True Ken. I guess the older you get, the more you will need to prove to yourself that Corvettes are really what everyone wants, and you already have one...

Looks fantastic. Don't you love it when a dreaded job goes better that you thought it would?

I guess the fun now begins to see how many of these "Little Holes" I can patch with Resin & Fiberglass Mat...

After cleaning the Underbody Floorpans, I was able to see alll the Small Holes (and especially the larger ones) much better...

Using the Dremel, I cleaned up all of the Holes that were visible, so may be able to get fiberglassed within the next few days...

BTW, will be using Carbon Fiber Matting for the repairs which should prove to be much better (strength wise) than the Fiberglass Matting...

Just finished the Passenger Side Underbody Floorpan repairing the Small Holes found using Carbon Fiber & Fiberfill Resin...

Doesn't look too bad I think. This side will be ready for cleaning and painting this weekend...

The large Hole in the Driver's Side Floorpan was a more delicate issue. Took a small sheet of Stainless Steel and after cleaning the Floorpan with the Dremel and Acetone, riveted the sheetmetal into place. Then added 2 layers of Carbon Fiber saturated in Resin and layed the layers into the Underbody Floorpan. Coated with 2 Coats of 1/8 Inch layer of Fiberfill and let dry. Will try to sand smooth Saturday or Sunday...

Have a few more small Holes and Cracks to repair on the Driver's Side Floorpan and should be ready to clean and paint sometime next week...

Finally got the Holes & Cracks in the Driver's Side Floorpan repaired using 2 Layers of Carbon Fiber, 2 Layers of Fiberglass Mat, and 6 Layers of an Excellent Grade of Resin/Hardner...

Will be trying to lay up a Solid Layer of Resin on the Interior Fiberglass Floorpans to help reinforce the structure...

Thanks 81LT4...

Like the 81...

The floors have been a pain, but getting there...

I believe I will lay down a good coating of Resin on the Interior Fiberglass Floorpans just to strengthen them a little more...

Finally got through with the Underbody Floorpans. What a pain, but finished now...

Ended up scraping the Undercoating completely off and prepping with Acetone and Naphtha Cleaner. Then, using the Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating (one more time after speaking with the Manufacturer about the correct Prep for Fiberglass while using the Truck Bed Coating). Undoubtably on the Cans that I purchased the 1st Time, the product must have been bad (Out of Date). But yet O'Reilly's will still sell the product regardless...

For those willing to undertake recoating their Underbody Floorpans, take heed as it will take quite a bit of work before you can get your floorpans looking new. Especially for a Corvette that is near 20 years old...

Next Project to Tackle, the Firewall, Front Frame Assembly, and the Crossmember. Then, will be able to begin putting the Front End Suspension back together...

Thanks bossvette...

The Underbody Floorpans are not as nice as they were when the '84 Corvette was new. But they don't look too bad (considering the large hole that was in the Driver's Side)...

There are scratches that were pretty deep grooved into the Floorpans, and I tried to smooth out as well as possible. But it would take a lot more time to get the Floorpans in Show Quality. But that is not I want. Besides, nobod will be looking at the Underbody anyway except for myself...

I'm like a lot of the guys and gals here at CAC. I just want a Nice Corvette that looks good, runs great, and is enjoyable for the weekends...

Thanks again...

Wow! That underbody looks 100% better! Great job on the patch and paint work Outlaw!

Jay

Thanks JT ZR-Won...

It has been a lot of fun really...

Thanks a lot atmmac...

It is great hearing from everyone here at CAC...

A few have emailed me wanting the complete process of repairing the Floorpan from beginning to end. I have over 350 Photos of the process and I cannot post them here on the forum due to time and space. But I will try to post a few Pictures here on what it looked like in the beginning and end...

I began the Underbody Floorpan Repairs on September 21, 2003 and completed the Repairs on October 21, 2003...

A drastic change from when I started on the Floorpans and now, the end result...

Wow (I think word that about covers it). I am in awe at the work you've done.

I wish you'd reconsider the '00 body kit on this car. I hate seeing C4's converted to C5's. I think a car this special needs some completely custom bodywork. This car should say "Outlaw" all the way.

I'm on the edge of my seat, this is a great thread, and I thank you for taking the time to share this great project with us. Whatever you do with the body, I'm here, anxiously awaiting your every post.

Thanks for the kind words alleydude...

It has been a great project from the very beginning. A few setbacks along the way, but as Ken had stated, these will happen...

I have a number of friends who have done the VanaCor C4 to C5 Conversion and they have a great package for this. They actually look great (especially when painted a Dark Color). Our color scheme will be Gun Metal Gray Metallic (BC/CC) with a Centerline Custom Viper Silver Metallic Stripe. Interior will have the Recaro Electric Buckets (Black Leather with Silver Inserts). 93 Door Panels will also carry the same Color Pattern as the Recaro's. I feel that this conversion is really no different than changing an 84 over to look like a 96 with the different bumpers, etc...

The way Project Outlaw's SS X-Fire has come about, nothing will be original anyway...

DEI Built 355ci NASCAR-Style Engine
Richmond 6-Speed ROD
1984 to 1993 Dash Conversion
Complete AutoMeter Phantom Gauge Conversion
Recaro Electric Seats
Cragar SS 17 x 10 Wheels
VanaCor C4 to C5 Conversion
C4 Operational Stinger Hood (To Clear Engine)
Corsa Exhaust System

I believe this will pretty well sum up all we have yet to do...
