Anyone know what the exact production of the saddle tan exterior by chance? I ve been trying to compute the remainder of the other colors to this one but nothing exact???:confused

Jonisti,

Apparently Chevrolet did not keep very accurate color numbers for the 1963 model years. As far as I know there is no definative 1963 production quantity numbers available for Black, Silver Blue, Saddle Tan or Ermine White cars. For what it's worth 1962 owners face the same lack of color quantity data for all colors except Fawn Beige and Almond Beige.

As unlikely as it is for us to find build details there is still some hope. There are two long shot possibilities out there for getting information.

One is the shipping documents as opposed to the factory build documents which all indications are that they've been destroyed. Supposedly the shipping documents to each dealer have actual car weights by VIN which would at least allow the estimation of some options but woulld not help with colors.

The second is supposed to be a national Insurance Company information depository located in the Chicago area. Supposedly this mysterious facility is kept under lock and key but has each car produced listed by VIN, color and option for theft recovery investigation.

Both are long shots and probably "urban Corvette legends" but they might be fact.

Like you as much as I'd like to know exact information I'm just enjoying driving.

The insurance database is the NICB (National Insurance Crime Bureau), which can only be accessed through the LEIN (Law Enforcement Information Network) by law enforcement officers with a case or docket number. It contains the original shipping information/selling dealer for virtually every car and truck sold in the U.S. since the 40's, but nothing that shows options or equipment.

Hello JohnZ,

Thank you for clarifying the NICB issue.

The story about them having color and option information seemed too good to be true.
