Hi guys and gals in C5 land. Have any of you folks painted the embossed Vette logo on the hood liner? I have seen a few on the Corvette Forum website and was wondering what kind of paint is used and how it turned out. Looks like a neat weekend project to give our rides a cool look. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello djones 14. When removing the liner, do you have to break off the plastic tabs holding it down or are they able to be forced off without breaking? If they break, where did you get replacements?

Thanks

RJ

Replacements are at your local GM Dealer. They are kind of expensive for plastic so be aware. I just ended up replacing all of them. Follow the directions on www.97vette.com and you cant go wrong its actually really easy.

Best of Luck!!

2 coats of flat black spray paint to seal the hood liner then use Testors model paint sticks - red, white, silver. It is an easy afternoon project. You will need to use many coats of the Testors paint for it to look good.

Looks great...but how does the black spraypaint hold up to all that engine heat?...Is it heat resistant Rustoleum???:beer

I wonder about the heat too. I painted my rail covers using the GM spray paint and it bubbled up. I guess this is working since so many have done it and so far so good.
