Hi I need to touch up the black centers on my stock aluminum wheels. Is there any tricks or stensils I can use to do this or just mask it off and spray away.

No tricks needed. I just taped and sprayed with semi-flat back. Came out perfect ;)

The secret to any painting is surface preparation. Make sure everything is smooth and wax & oil free... then tape & spray away!!

Can I use paint remover on the black centers of my wheels without damaging the aluminum? Some bubba in the past must have painted the black with a broom, it looks like s@$&!

Not all aluminum wheels are the same from 1974 ~ 1982 ;)

I am not positive which year the aluminum wheel became an option, but the first ones were not polished and they had a black center and black inserts. The later years I'm thinking from 1980 ~ 1982 were polished with polished center and black inserts.

Check out the photo's in the Model Year Gallery for:

1978 Note: the Pace Car in 78 had polished center with black inserts.

1979

1981

Scroll through the photo's and you will see the difference ;)

I painted the black inserts on my '76 a year ago. I used a coffee can for a stencil and they turned out perfect (no taping necessary).
