Having just spent the weekend reading what the difference is between MAP and MAF and purchasing a set of mildly ported heads, I know I will have to install a modified computer chip in my 92 coupe. I would like to hear about any experiences with aftermarket chip manufacturers.

I would have a custom chip done for your car through Ed Wright or Jesse Azzato.

mail order chips are hit or miss. If you have the money get a full DFI system and put the car on a chassy dyno.

There is good article on just this subject in the October 2004, Chevy High Performance.

It explains the differences between all the years programming and they do a few demonstrations. For a fiver you can't go wrong getting a little knowledge, and you'll beable to either redo your own or have some knowledge of what the guys who reprogram the chips are talking about.

This is VERY true.. A MAP based system is even harder than a MAF based system to tune from a remote location.
Best bet is to buy the equipment and learn to do it yourself. Have a read at the DIY PROM forum at www.thirdgen.org This is where the guru's live ;-)
