I dont find it hard to believe that this is real. Just think of all the fire breathing monsters they have built that never made it out . Dave

I agree. And think about all those "specials" that did make it to production:

- '63 Z-06
- '67 L-88
- '68 L-88
- '69 L-88
- '69 ZL-1
- '71 ZR-2

....among others. ;)

The thing about all this that makes me :L is that you guys are making it sound like the Z06 is slow!:L:L:L
No, not really. I think it's just a bunch of guys who love the Vette enough that they want to see it kick the asses of all the competition out there - both here and abroad. They want to see the Corvette be #1 on the road, on the track and in the hearts of everyone that has horsepower running through their veins. I think that's a good thing. :)

I think the "Blue Devil" needs to keep all of the electronics and if not add more! Think who its competition is going to be. Its still going to be a "Chevy" when comparing to the great Euro legends of Ferrari - Porsche. It has to set its self apart to sell and be taken seriously as a competitor. Sure it will be faster the Corvettes have always been faster than them but people typically go for the others because of the options and extras that they offer.

JMO.

Cheers,

Michael

I'm not one to spend a hundred grand on a car. I'd choose the 66 thousand 505 hp C6 Z06 and be dam pleased with it. (if I were buying which at this point I'm not)

Glad to see a possible 600 hp blue devil being built. Just not the market segment I'm going after.

Would be great to see the corvette kill all supercars and the car does look bad @ss......

I just won't be buying one anytime soon! but I bet they sell everyone if they make it limited production of 500 a year or some nonsense.

I think GM could move 500 examples of the 600 hp Blue devil each year and grab the supercar crown without exception.

That would be cool.

JB,

I knew you'd jump in soon!:D

How about paddle shifting?:D

First off, I LOVE the black wheels. Gloss black with a machined lip might look cool too (but I'm partial.) This thing will be one hell of a package. the 600hp number has to be way under-rated. "...upwards of 600hp..." has to mean closer to 700 at the crank. My little HC, 346 is making 650 to the wheels at 10psi. If this thing has a twin screw with lower CR and 8 or 10 psi of boost, even with a conservative tune, it'll put more than 600 to the pavement!!

As for weight, 2,900lbs is pretty darn good. With the added 100 or so pounds for the blower, charge cooler and assorted hardware, that makes it 330 or so pounds under the C6Z. This being said, I think they can do better (...like Rob said.) CF seats (WITH HARNESS SLOTS) are needed. Plus titanium and CF wherever possible. can you imagine this sucker around 2,800lbs and 600 + rwhp!! :crazy Here Ford GT, here Ford GT!!! ;)

Long Live CORVETTE!!! The definition of American performance!!!

This car is exiting on a global scale. I agree with the ZL1 name. No other would be better. Limit colors and luxo options. Add more light weight materials to hold overall weight to an absolute minimum. Use any and all performance enhansing electronics including paddle shifting. 700 horse is easy for the LS7. Heck, Hot Rod Magazine and Car Craft get that out of a built up LS1 in a very streetable package.

Also leave all the glitz and bling in the parts bins. Black or machine grey wheels and other items that make the car look all business, which it is, are a must along with the aforementioned racing seats. Gearing for 210 mph at least in 5th and able to cruise effortlessly at 160+ in 6th would be just right too.

I would put everything in the basement on Ebay to get one of these.

Well, what's the sticker on the Ford GT, 140K or so? I haven't seen one for under 200K in AutoWeek, and some are well past $220,000.

At least GM is thinking about putting the Vette back where it should be, ahead of everything else at half the price!!
