Picture of a 7 leaf spring please

John I have an eaton replacement spring on my shelf for my 66,John Z will answer this one as he had done an excellent article on this topic last year in Corvette enthusis magazine

John, here's a photo of one - I believe it's a reproduction (note the extra short top plate at the mounting point at the diff cover), but I think it's quite accurate in terms of thickness and the form at the ends of the leaves.

A little explanation for a newbie, please. Looking at the picture John provided, the bottom of the spring looks flat. Most of the C2 buying advice I've seen says that the spring should have some arc to it - and that if it is flat it's shot and would need to be replaced.

Would someone explain?

Mark

John, there's an excellent answer to your question over on the NCRS Board from Franz Estereicher - he's "da man" on Corvette rear springs; he worked for Rockwell (spring supplier) and was responsible for all the manufacturing processes for Corvette leaf springs. Have known Franz for many years.
