Here's mine. Shrinking the photo down to a legal size sure wreaks havoc on the definition of the side pipes!

Well I hadn't any new pics up until about two weeks ago but I've been meaning to post this one in a good spot.. The white 66 is mine and the yellow 66 and blue 71 are my good friend Jeff's... Wish I could claim em all as mine.. Funny thing is, this isn't even posed.. He had backed the 66 out to clean the garage the 71 was getting cleaned up and I just happened by.... Dave..

Got the car a couple of years ago....I picked it up at an auction out in New Mexico, we were out for the hot air balloon fiesta and my gal who is a read-aholic, reads everything and saw that there was a classic car auction out there....so at her suggestion we checked it out and the next day was the auction....saw the car and had to come back for the auction....I got caught up in the day and was bidding on a beautiful, museum like 30 something Chrylser and she hit my in the ribs with an elbow and said "is that why we are here?", so I quit bidding on the Chrysler....the next car up was the 64 Vette and I sat there quiet while the bidding was going on, she said "aren't you going to bid?" and I said yes...just picking my time, and so when the auctioneer said going once, my hand went up and the price jumped a few more thousand....but it was mine....turns out that the guy that owned it had it at the Route 66 Museum in Santa Rosa, NM for a couple of years. The brochure that they have, on the back of it you can see the back side of the Vette in the picture. Since it hadn't been on the road for a while, I had it trailered back to Ohio and then to the shop to get all the things that it needed sorted out.....did the brakes, tune up and shocks and she was ready to go.....

My gal (she has a C5 '01 convertible) and I were at carlisle last fall and one of the suppliers was running a show special, anything that they had was 10% off and free shipping....hence the side pipes showed up from the show....for my birthday, my gal had my favorite local shop install them for me.....

You, my friend, have a great lady! You're a lucky man.
She sounds like my wife...I consider myself very fortunate.

Enjoy!

Done for this years mod's

Thought I might post another shot of my car, now that the performance upgrades have been completed for this season. Replaced the complete suspension, Vette Brakes Performance Plus + , the steering with R+P from steeroids, brakes courtesy of SSBC Aluminium Force-10's and finally the brake assist from ( Hydratech ).

Michelin " Sport Pilots ps2's, on 18" Intro-wheels will keep all this rolling along .

I know I am bias, but I kind'a love the new looks. refer to the 5th post on page 4 for the before looks of the same car.

Stepinwolf: Your car is absolutley stunning looking machine! Could you provide us some more sdetail about the wheels and tires?:beer

I'm blushing

Thank you for your kind words groovyjay.

When I decided to upgrade the complete suspension, the choice of wheels and tires became for me a one time, get it right the first time thing. Luckily I was able to obtain some information from some of our fellow members, and after a dozen or so e-mails with " Rich" I was able to make the final decision.

The problem we have here in Canada to order wheels, is the cost involved in the transportation, the taxes, and the brokerage fees that we are hit with when we receive the order. Each one of the wheels came with a bill of 142$ per box, for a total of close to 600$ for the shipement.

This was the deciding factor that eventually made the choice easier to make. I could not take a chance on making a nistake on the size, backspacing, etc. so I decided to go with a set of forged wheels from " Intro Wheels" http://www.introwheels.com/ in California. The main reason is because of Dave, who is on staff, and has had experience in setting up thousands of Corvettes with aftermarket wheels.

When I was ready to place the order, all I was obliged to tell him was the maximum size I wanted, what kind of suspension I had installed, the presence of any body mods, and he went with that. I was guaranteed that I would receive a set of 18 inch wheels, and that they would fit perfectly, without any interference what so ever, and that there would be no modifications of any kind to the body, or wheel openings. Guess what, he was 100% right on, and they fit a he** of a lot better then OJ's glove.

The choice of tires was another issue. Not having ever purchased these sizes 235/40/18 before, I went with the highest quality, most expensive tire I could find locally, and I am very pleased with the looks, and the specs. On all my previous cars I have ALWAYS, gone with Good Years, BFG, and other names that I could spell, but after looking at the performance level that I could expect from these tires ( Michelin Sport Pilot ps/2's ) the choice was relatively easy. The final road tests are not done as yet, but from what I hear from others that have taken the same route, these tires are outstanding wet or dry.

Thanks again for your kind words, and here is a close up

regards
Bob
