Pictures of your mid year..

Did your destination have anything to do with go-fast cars ( as in racing ) :D

Bob,

You got it. It was such a sunny day, we went for a cruise out to Mosport International Raceway ( http://www.mosport.com/ ) and discovered that there were practice laps under way. Reminded me of old times. :D That silver-tongued devil Fuelie sweet-talked security at the gate and in we went.

The tunnel you all saw in an earlier photo is actually a large culvert used to access the pits and inner field of the 2.5 mile road course.

By the way, here's a really old photo (late 1970's I think) of 67HEAVEN accelerating towards the start/finish line at the same track. I lost many of my original photos. This one is a scan of a photo in an old club magazine. This is why the car had the old fender flares on it.

67heaven,

It sure rewinds my tape seeing this type of old photo. I live in Trois Rivieres, ( as in Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres ) and can still remember all these cars ( including an original Corvette Grand Sport ) that used to visit the course that is laid out on our city streets. We still have the races in early September, and although the times have been lowered, we don't see the same type of cars any longer. It's a sad thing to think how most of them have been disposed of.

That's right Ron. Mosport Green is named after Canada's famous track.

Incidentally, many Canadians (even those living close by the track) don't know how to pronounce the name. Phonetically, it's Mow-sport (like you mow your lawn), not Moss-port (like in Stirling Moss) :D

So, if it's not named after Stirling Moss (the great former Grand Prix racer), what is it named after?

MOtorSPORT. :upthumbs

Midshark,

Thanks for the neat old photos. I hope we're not boring people with this old stuff. :D

Here's another of my copies from an old magazine. These were warm-up laps at Mosport. The blue '67 big block coupe, in front of mine, tore the driver's side clean off in the catch fences at the end of the Andretti Straight not long after this photo. I wish I still had those photos. What a shame that was to see.

Right, '67. I've known that for many years, just like to remind some of the younger 'vette folks now & then where the names of some of the early 'vette colors came from. As you say, named after the race tracks of the day, like Riverside Red, Nassau Blue, Sebring Silver, Daytona Blue, and so on. Oh, yes, and one of my favorites, Mosport Green (not Mossport Green, as I've seen used sometimes). Mosport Raceway, now I remember again why I like that color so much . . . . . ;)

Right, Paul!! Didn't intentionally mean to omit anyone. I'm knocked out every time I see a pic of your car. That Goodwood Green/Saddle combinations is one of my all-time favorites!!!

Best Wishes!!! :w

I agree. That is drop dead gorgeous! :beer

Hopefully it will be out of the paint shop by mid-May. I am getting a Barry K. angst! And it's only been two months.

;LOL ;LOL ;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

angst isn't at 2 months, it starts at 7 months, and I'm beginning to get to the next stage myself now which is sheer desperation (this stage starts at almost 9 months)
;LOL

I promised to put up some pics from the Wings Over Miami corvette show.
The show is hosted by my friend's club..The Sunshine Corvette Club.

I have attended for the last four years.

Six of us got up early yesterday morning (four C5s and two 67 coupes) and made the 40 mile trek to the show.
There were some truly beautiful cars including a 1967 L-88.
The vintage vettes get to park in a hangar, but we wanted to stay together and got to park in a cool spot.
I mean cool in more ways than one as we got shade from the hot sun and a great breeze.

I think you'll agree.

Check it out..

Yes... I believe you are.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner at this show a few years ago.
He has a shop where he works on vintage vettes.

Are we looking at one of twenty here? :confused

Right on

The term " Wings over Miami " could not be more appropriate. When one gets to park under a beautiful plane like this, well,,, life is good.

Great pictures, great cars, too bad I live a couple of thousand miles away, I was looking for someplace to go ( rain around here ) I would have gone also. ;)
