Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Pictures of your mid year..

That's a great use for the old PBY-5A Catalina :) . My Dad was a Navy fighter pilot in WWII, and flew one once while getting a hop from one island to another; he said it took off at 90, cruised at 90, and stalled at 90 :D

Yes... I believe you are.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner at this show a few years ago.
He has a shop where he works on vintage vettes.

Roger? :D

Roger..over and out.

;LOL Sorry...I couldn't resist.

You're thinking Roger from Roger's Corvettes in Maitland Florida...right?

No, the L-88 belongs to a gentleman named Dave Walters.

Hi John,

They've got some neat old planes there at the Weeks Air Museum.
There was a raffle and first prize was a ride in one of these relics.
Open air seating..I was praying to God that I wouldn't win.
I had only brought along one pair of underwear.:D

Thankfully, God was listening.

A lady from the Sunshine Corvette club won the ride and we all watched as she climbed in and the plane taxied down the runway then took off.
The pilot did a series of loops that would have surely cost me my lunch.

A few minutes later the plane touched down. All went well.

Better her than me.

I've always been afraid of raw heights..lately I'm starting to be afraid of widths.

There's (at least) two of twenty in Florida, and they're both white?

:eek

You know,
I just went on Rogerscorvettecenter.com to look at the L-88 that he bought last year for 600K+ and it no longer appears there. It was a red car.
I recently read about it in one of my corvette mags.
Maybe he sold it?

Pedro

Edit:
67, here is the car I mentioned above.

The white L-88 I posted above is also Roger's. Not to mention the yellow ZL-1 in the same photo.

The $615,000.00 (plus auction fees) red L-88 is another question. So, counting Roger's two (red and white) and Dave Walters' white one, there are three '67 L-88's of the original 20 in Florida. :eek

FWIW, this weekend is the opening of Canada's new War Museum in this city (Canada's Capital) to coincide with the 60th Anniversary of the end of WWII. One of the last two Lancaster bombers still flying is expected to make a fly-past. And perhaps a Spitfire. My Dad (long gone) was a WAG (wireless air gunner) in the Lancs at the end of WWII. I will be there to honour our folks who did what they had to do. And did it well.

67Heaven, thanks for posting my pic for real. How did you do that? Every time I tried, I kept getting it as a link. I even edited it several times to try and get it right.

Also, thanks for the compliment. Coming from you, it's high praise, indeed. I'll look forward to seeing you at Carlisle if your brains haven't been blown outta your ears after driving down to the CAC cruise.

By the way, my dad drives a 2004 Chevy S-10 Extreme p/u in Millenium Yellow.
I think I have a pic of his truck and my 67 together and if I can figure out how to post the pic for real, I'll do it next.

I went and viewed your photo from the link you posted and then copied its URL address from the Internet Explorer address bar.

Next, I posted it here using the [ img] and [ /img] codes (do not leave the spaces that I did in the above codes).

Just so you'll be certain which address I used, here it is without the above codes.
