PKE and Courtesy lights problem

I did read that section, but I think you have to have the original remote to do that and I don't have the original remote. Is there another way around turning it on without the original remote?

Thanks

I do not know. Maybe GMJunkie or C4C5 Specilist can jump in and help us out.

pke problems

i have a 93 coupe w/ pke problems. i too bought car w/o fob and bought one from chevy and programed it. it will inlock and lock if it feels like it. the horn does not beep. if your sitting in car listening to radio while wifes shopping the locks will continue to cycle open and closed while you sit there. also the drivers door will not lock w/ fob but will open with it. i have ask for help a few times and never got the right answer . it seems no one know correctly how to troubleshoot this problem. i even ask c4 specialist and after a month or two got answer to change door lock switch which i did. still have same problems. i took car to my local chevy dealer and mechanic admitted to not having worked on these and said to change out brain box in dash Only $500.00 w/ labor. living in small town i kinda knew what answer would be -no answer- i was told to take car to springfield, mo to reliable chevy they have good corvette mechanics but being a do it yourselfer all my life i would like to handle problem if only i could get right direction. i just hat to have to go to chevy and drop this kind of money.
i just thought i would let you know the problems i have run into trying to get help w/ pke people mean well but sometimes you need an expert to help you out and i have gotten all the answers i have ever needed form people on this great site but this Pke thing seems to be bigger than all of us.

I don't think the problem is with my remote. The problem is getting the PKE light in the DIC to come on when in the process of programing. I cannot get th PKE light to illuminate while holding the the FUEL/INFO button down after pressing the TRIP/ODO button twice. The radio is off.

Can you contact the previous owner of your car? I am beginning to suspect that at some time in the cars past the PKE was disabled and an aftermarket system was installed in your car. Or the previous owner may have done something to disable the PKE because they did not like the way the PKE worked.

I am attaching these pics of the four pages in the FSM that relate to this problem.

Good luck!

Thanks LT4Man for the copies from the Field Service Manual. I will start the process of following the charts to see if I can identify were my problem is.

8Kgold69 These pages may have the information you need to check out why you can not get the PKE to light up on your dic
