Putting the rear diff back in was fairly quick an easy.
I sealed the carrier cover out on the shop floor and let it sit for 24 hours. I then trimmed off the excess RTV, and positioned the diff on the floor jack. I jacked it right into place and installed the mounting bolts, then torqued per G.M. spec.
From there I slowly intalled the rest of the rear suspensiobn including the new rear spring.
After a few hours I dropped it on the ground for the first time since mid September. I did not have much free time as I had to get the car out of the garage, haul it to Tzracers house to store it, pick up his 71, and put his 71 in the garage to do my part on bonding the front nose, fitting the doors, and installing the front fender flares.......whewwwww (I am already exhausted).
First impression. I drove the car about five miles with the alignment all over the place (remember, all new suspenion and lowering kit). The gear was quiet and smooth. The speedo seemed about right per traffic around me.
I nailed it one time........OMG! It was like getting rear ended by a rocket booster. The car leaped into action, the revs came up super fast, and it SLAMMED me into the seat. It was sooooooooooooooooo schweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a little teaser, because it will be a few months before I get my hands back on it to finish up the alignment and properly break the rear gear in per Richmond specs.
So far, so good! Updates to follow in a few months.
