John, I like your rearend! ;) I really like that exhaust plate - I was disappointed after I came home from CF last year and discovered the exhaust plate I bought at the NCM wouldn't fit my car because there isn't enough space between the tailpipes. :mad

Jim - when I first looked at this picture I thought 1035 was your dial in time - and I thought "holly molly" Jim's Z is an animal. But subsequent info given to Dwayne allowed me to recover from my state of shock. Still 12:43 @ 113 is outstanding. Nicely done. God I do love drag racing

Yes, very nicely done! However, I'm afraid I simply cannot share with your enthusiam over drag racing any more, though.

Don't get me wrong....I used to love it....but the day "bracket racing" was introduced and I was disqualified as the result of some minor tuning I had done on my ride between races, which allowed the car to run better than it had done in the previous race, was the last time I drag raced a vehicle competively.

The "heads up, run what you brung", style of racing in the 60's and early 70's, definitely separated the "wheat from the chaffe", so to speak.

But then again, I am a crotchety old fart to begin with, so there's no 'countin' for my taste anymore. heh, heh, heh.

Karl - you and I aren't very far apart in age and like you I started drag racing in the 60's. However, unlike you, I think bracket racing has real value. It teaches you to concentrate on the only thing that matters - "your run". In the end you become a better drag racer. Then when you return to good old fashioned Friday night "run what you brung" racing you'll generally destroy the guy in the next lane. You know - the guy that does the big "crowd pleasing" burn out and the "over done" stagging routines. Because "bracket racing taught you that what the guy in the other lane is doing "just doesn't matter".
