Hi all,

I'm going to look at a 93 Ruby this weekend. It has 78,200 miles on it and from the pictures appears to have been very well taken care of. The owner passed away late last year and his family is looking to sell it.

They are asking about 12K for it, and I'm trying my best to figure out if that is a reasonable price. Figured I'd ask some of the experts here to try and temper my initial urge to buy it regardless of cost !

Thanks

Chuck

Well I'm no expert on value or pricing of these fine cars but i can tell you this.........that is what i paid for my 93 Ruby with 56k miles last December. I considered it relatively well kept by the previous owner who purchased it new. Most of what I've had to do is what you might expect for a 15 year old corvette: weatherstripping, lumbar repair, antenna repair, etc. and I'm still happy.

Ive had a '93 coupe for 7 years and I drive it all summer. It has 76K and going strong. No major work just normal oil, filter, tune ups etc.
Can't judge the price, but if in excellent shape 12K sounds reasonable.
Good Luck

Even though they made quite a few of these cars, they still are special. They are a one year deal and have a special paint/interior/color. They are, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful Corvettes made. Like the others who have posted, I am no expert in values, but I will say this, $12k doesn't sound out of line for a Ruby in the condition you have described. 6 speeds seem to bring a little more than autos generally. The ultimate thing is, are you satisfied with the car at that price? If so, buy it, if not, walk away or offer them a lesser amount. The worst that can happen is they say "no" but they might come back with a counter offer.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Chuck,

Is the Ruby a coupe or a convertible? Automatic or 6-speed? Those factors will definitely impact the asking price. For $12k, my guess is that it's a coupe. I think that's a more than fair price for a well-maintained Ruby. If you want to offer $1k less, that would be ok, too, but if not accepted, the original price is well within reason.

Let us know!

Elaine

Thanks one and all for the input. It will help tomorrow's trip a little easier and productive (I hope).
