power antenna always running in C4

My '86 Vette's antenna is stuck in the running up position. How do I get the antenna out of the car, and what do I have to take apart and fix, or should it simply be removed and replaced? How would I approach that? Thanks.

Falcon, Since it appears that you're problem is technical in nature and not an aftermarket question, and considering that you are going to repair or replace the factory set-up, I'm going to move this to the technical section in hopes that it will get more exposure for your question.
